The Greyhound Derby reaches the semi-finals on Saturday but tonight it’s bread and butter action from Crayford.
A smart sprinter in Ireland, Peters Point made a quick start to life with Jim Daly, winning an A5 at the first time of asking. He impressed with the way he drove the bend there, looking the type to climb the grades.
Seen just once since, he reappears at A6 level which has to make him of immediate interest at odds of in the 20:03. His 17.75 win at Thurles in February suggests he should be closer to A1 here and he can start to make up for lost time.
Cliff can Star in the Early Pace Wars
Gemma Davidson can land the 19.07 with Skywalker Cliff. There is an abundance of early pace in here to his outside and keeping those out to his right round the opening turns can see him in pole position to kick on down the back.
He only has a stubby tail but that doesn’t seem to have a negative effect on his balance round the turns so he can turn a first bend lead into a victory.
Native to Sing the Winning Song
This is just the second start at Crayford for Native Ballad in the 18.07. He looked a nice recruit in his trials but missed the kick on his debut which had him on the back foot around this tight track.
His form at Newbridge and Shelbourne in the autumn reads well at this level and it would be no surprise to see him further up the graded ladder sooner rather than later for Luke Morrison.
Morrison to Double up with Sinead
It’s fair to say that things have not gone smoothly for Move Over Sinead in recent starts. She has not been trapping as well as she can and finding trouble as a result.
A winner in this grade for Morrison in April when she came away better, a return to that level of form would see her right in the mix in a modest enough contest to close out the card at 21.18.
The Return to Stripes Catches the Eye
Seven starts on the bounce from trap five is finally broken tonight for Theydon Patsy. The return to the six box is a big plus for Jim Reynolds’ girl in the 19.24.
She has a couple of early paced types to clear in four and five which will not make her task easy but she was three grades higher than this just seven weeks back. Her added class from her preferred draw can see her back in front.
