ATALANTA away must have sounded a red alert for Liverpool when they lost Virgil van Dijk.
The Italians are one of the best attacking teams on the Continent and it’s the kind of game the Dutchman would have relished.
However, without their skipper Liverpool have battled to four wins in a row despite conceding to the likes of Sheffield United and West Ham.
It’s not always been pretty but they’ve got the job done and Diogo Jota’s winner late on against West Ham was the type times to win titles.
Tuesday’s trip to Bergamo though will be their toughest test against a side who have netted 17 in their first six Serie A outings and six in two Champions League games.
But defensively the Italians can be exposed with 13 conceded in the league and two at home to Ajax last week.
Atalanta look quite big at 9-4 with bet365 with Liverpool 11-10 at McBookie but I don’t want to pick a winner.
Although I can’t resist goals and over 3.5 has a chance at 10-11 with McBookie. On accas though go for both to score at 4-11.
Ajax were unlucky against Liverpool and played well to hold Atalanta but have Covid problems for the visit to Midtjylland.
They were a best 4-6 but have gone out to over evens after it was revealed 11 players have tested positive. The Dutch have travelled to Denmark with 17 players instead of 23 and the most notable absentees are Ryan Gravenberch, Davy Klaassen, Dusan Tadic, Andre Onana and Maarten Stekelenburg.
Our Dutch expert mr orange believes they have still have enough to win it but I’ll be leaving this one alone.
Man City will be again without Sergio Aguero against Olympiakos but Gabriel Jesus could be back.
City are short at 2-9 but I like Ferran Torres to net at 7-4 with bet365. They also have plenty of firepower if Jesus doesn’t make it with Kevin de Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling all likely to start.
Real Madrid are unbeaten since a shock matchday one defeat at home to Shakhtar Donetsk but face a tough test against an Inter Milan side whose only defeat this season was to AC Milan.
There have been 11 goals in Real’s first two games and while both to score has a chance I’m backing the home at 19-20 with Betfred with Inter likely to be without top scorer Romelu Lukaku.
Shakhtar have been surprise guys and they followed their 3-2 win at the Bernabeu with a 2-2 draw against Inter. Should be goals again in the 5.55pm kick-off when they entertain Borussia Monchengladbach. Both to score pays 8-13 at bet365.
Elsewhere I fancy Bayern and goals at Red Bull Salzburg but Bayern and over 2.5 is extremely short at 1-2. Serge Gnabry netted the winner at Cologne on Saturday but even he is odds on at 10-11 to score at anytime. To break the deadlock Robert Lewandowski will be popular at 9-2 with Unibet.
Top Treble
- Atalanta v Liverpool btts
- Red Bull vs Bayern Munich over 2.5 goals
- Real Madrid
- (9-2, Betfred)
