After an action packed Tuesday, its a smaller card to focus on today with 8 UCL qualifiers and some more friendlies at home and on the continent.
My focus tonight will be on Rosenborg’s trip to Belfast to play Linfield and the Norwegians should be too good for their northern Irish counterparts.
Linfield vs Rosenborg (KO 7.45pm)
It can be hard on British teams in these qualifiers as they often have to face sides who are only midway through their Domestic season so have an real advantage playing against sides who’s season finished 7-8 weeks ago and haven’t played a competitive match in that period.
Linfield’s pre season in preparation for this tie has been three friendlies and resulted in three defeats 0-2 -3 2-4 and Rosenborg probably represent a much stiffer test given they are seasoned pro’s in Europe and are mid way through their domestic season.
St Johnstone scored 4 past them on Saturday, Motherwell 3 last week and Bucharest 2 prior to that – it doesn’t bode well for them especially as those sides have also just started their preseason.
Its been a poor season for Rosneborg standards but they have picked up domestically after a poor start and travel to Northern Ireland in confidant mood. From what I’ve seen of Linfield in pre season, Norway should be looking to take a two goal lead back to Trondheim
Recommended Bet:
- Rosenborg and over 1.5 goals
- 17/20 (Coral) (NAP)
