MANCHESTER CITY’S Premier League title defence isn’t going to plan but they won’t care about losing their English crown if they can rule Europe for the first time.
The Champions League remains City’s Holy Grail and McBookie make them 3/4 favourites for a win at Leipzig tonight in the last 16.
The Germans are 10/3 with the same firm and that looks overpriced given Leipzig beat Real Madrid at home in the group stage and have lost just once in 20 games.
But I’m steering clear of backing a result and going for goals instead with both sides usually playing on the front foot.
City faced Leipzig in the group stage last term and we saw 12 strikes across the two games. That’s why over 2.5 goals is just 13/17 at SBK and BTTS 7/10 with the same firm.
For better odds, try over 1.5 first-half goals at 8/5 with McBookie, who also price an Ilkay Gundogan assist at a tempting 17/4.
The other last-16 tie tonight sees Inter Milan host a Porto side who are unbeaten since losing to Benfica way back in October.
Inter’s form is also good, with one defeat in 13, so it promises to be a close game and the half-time draw pays 11/10 at McBookie.
Romelu Lukaku is fit again and his partnership with Lautaro Martinez could make the difference.
The Argentinian is Inter’s most reliable striker and looks good at 15/8 (Bet365) for anytime scorer.
- Super singles: Gundogan assist (17/4, McBookie), Martinez to score (15/8, Bet365)
- McBookie bet builder: Combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals in Leipzig pays 102/100.
