A full list of La Liga fixtures await this midweek with matters at both ends of the table to discuss.
Barcelona’s woeful 1-1 draw with Granada on Monday marked a fitting end to a thrilling matchday five in the Spanish top flight and there is sure to be further excitement waiting in the wings.
Atleti to Edge Getafe Trip
A Madrid derby is arguably Tuesday’s headline act as Atletico head to the suburbs to take on struggling Getafe.
Michel’s return as coach is yet to have the desired effect at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, with Getafe still to pick up a point in 2021-22.
The Azulones have also netted just once in their five outings and this promises to be a cagey affair. A ‘no’ in the both teams to score market is just 1/2
and maybe worth considering due to Tuesday’s hosts having failed to score in the pair’s last 20 meetings.
An away win is 20/27
and Atletico will be looking to recapture the winning thread after Saturday’s hard-fought 0-0 draw at home to Athletic Bilbao.
Los Colchoneros are 29/20
to win to zero and all things considered, that looks like a logical outcome.
Andalusian Stalemate?
Onto Wednesday’s games and the match between the division’s sixth and third-ranked sides catches the eye as Sevilla and Valencia meet at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Los Che head to Andalusia having been knocked off top spot by Real Madrid and for the first time in his short reign, Jose Bordalas has questions to answer.
Facing Sevilla is never an easy task and the hosts come into the game on the back of a string of three straight draws.
That outcome chimes in at 11/4
and would not be a bad thing for either side. Both hold Champions League qualification hopes and may see not losing to a direct rival as just as important as taking all three points.
Sevilla are unbeaten in 19 of their last 21 home games against Valencia and the hosts will be hopeful history can repeat itself.
Summer arrival Erik Lamela has arguably been their player of the season so far, the Argentine netting three times since joining from Tottenham.
Lamela is 12/5
in the anytime market and seems to have regained his enthusiasm after his injury-plagued spell in north London.
Cadiz Can Trouble Barca
Finally, and following Monday’s 1-1 draw at home to Granada, it is impossible not to be intrigued by Barcelona’s trip to Cadiz.
Los Piratas come into the game on the back of their first La Liga win of the season, triumphing 2-1 at Celta Vigo on Friday to edge their way into mid-table.
They have only ever beaten Barcelona once, but that was in this fixture last year when they triumphed 2-1, and they backed it up later in the season with a 1-1 at the Nou Camp.
A repeat win is 11/2
and another 2-1 is tempting at 20/1
when you consider how woeful the Blaugrana were earlier in the week.
Ronald Koeman’s dream job is turning into a nightmare and while the club’s historical mismanagement is anything but his fault, the current hierarchy seem ready to move him aside in order to buy themselves some time.
An away victory is still just 1/2
but the value is on the hosts and 17/10
for a Cadiz win or draw should not be sniffed at.
