Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag has done well to form a championship-calibre team that now also fields a young prospect in Carlos “Venom” Hernandez, but even with all that talent, Los Angeles Thieves seem like they’re a class below the CDL’s top dogs. They enter this match off an uninspiring 3-2 win against Toronto Ultra and a rather disappointing 2-3 loss against New York Subliners, which suggests the LA squad will struggle to overcome the likes of Atlanta FaZe, OpTic Chicago and even Dallas Empire.
We were not too high on London Royal Ravens earlier in the season and did not expect that swapping out Christopher “Parasite” Duarte with Paul “PaulEhx” Avila would lead to much improvement, but we were very wrong. The Royal Ravens looked like a completely different team in their 3-0 sweep of LA Guerrillas last weekend, and if they can continue playing this way, the British squad just might be in the race for the Stage 2 Major title.
We are always wary of overreacting to one good performance, but the Royal Ravens played exceptionally well last time out and look to have a real chance against the shaky-looking Thieves. This is more of a gut-feeling prediction, but after seeing the Thieves struggle against the Ultra, we have to favour the underdogs.

Los Angeles Guerrillas don’t seem ready to take on the high-flying New York Subliners after what they showed against the Royal Ravens last week. Although these two squads were viewed as the two favourites to compete for the third spot in Group A, it is fairly obvious which of the two is in a better position to do so.
We would go even so far as to say the Subliners shouldn’t lose any more matches in this group. Individually, New York are not much stronger than the Guerrillas – or at least not by as much as the odds at esports bookmakers suggest – but they’re playing much better at the moment.
This might be a very optimistic take, but the Subliners can win this match 3-0. The Guerrillas have the talent to impress, but until we see some improvement, there is no real reason to trust them with our money.
