Hertha Berlin vs Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich continue the lighter part of their Bundesliga schedule as they visit Hertha Berlin this upcoming weekend.
The visitors have been ruthlessly efficient in gathering points while seeing their major rivals stumble, and now they have firm control of their destiny this season.
Hansi Flick’s men are on top of the table with 45 points, which is seven points clear over the second-seeded RB Leipzig and they are showing no signs of slowing down.
On the other hand, Hertha Berlin are in need of a turnaround since their form has been putrid.
Since winning over Union Berlin in the previous Berlin Derby last December, Die Alte Dame have only won once in their last nine league games.
They are currently standing at the 15th spot with 17 points and are level with Arminia Bielefield, which means that they are in danger to slide down into the relegation zone.

Talking Points
Bayern Munich are looking ahead
With this game looking like a foregone conclusion, Bayern Munich have a lot to examine moving forward.
Obviously getting more positive Bundesliga 2021 results will be the main priority en route to another championship, but what’s worth monitoring more is on what will be their plans for the summer.
With David Alaba set to leave the club for Real Madrid soon, the centre-back position will need to be reinforced.
Jerome Boateng holds the other centre-back position, but it remains to be seen on whether who will be paired alongside him moving forward.
Lucas Hernandez and Niklas Sule have appeared sparingly for the Bavarian giants this season, and both have considered leaving for greener pastures.
Furthermore, Bayern Munich considered prying away RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano to fill in the void at the right price. However, they are in a bidding war with Chelsea and Liverpool.
While both sides have yet to reach a deal, for now, Hansi Flick is obliged to use the players that he has as of the moment.
Hernandez and Sule are in their physical primes so perhaps Flick can figure out a way to integrate them into his rotation.
Out front, Robert Lewandowski will continue to be their main protagonist.
He scored all of the four goals during their reverse fixture against Hertha, making him the marked man for the Old Lady’s backline.
Will new faces translate success for Hertha Berlin?
Other than their lacklustre form, the biggest news for Hertha Berlin is the new people that they’ve brought in this past month.
Pal Dardai signed for a contract until 2022, marking his return at the coaching helm replacing Bruno Labbadia.
In the transfer window, Die Alte Dame signed Sami Khedira from Juventus as a way to address their midfield woes.
The 34-year-old Stuttgart native will offer experience and depth for Hertha as he is a certified winner.
One of Khedira’s biggest achievements was when he helped Germany win the 2014 World Cup months after winning the Champions League with Real Madrid.
He hasn’t appeared for Juventus this term which makes this move necessary as he is approaching the twilight of his decorated career.
Can Dardai and Khedira resuscitate the Old Lady’s faltering hopes of staying in top-flight? Only time will tell.
History
The Bavarian giants are the overwhelming favourites in this contest because of their historical dominance over Die Alte Dame.
Bayern Munich have won 23 times in their last 34 meetings, while Hertha Berlin have only won twice along with nine draws.
With only 17 points in 19 fixtures, this is Hertha Berlin’s third-worst campaign so far. They have only been worse off at this juncture in 2004 (16) and in 2010 (10) season to which they were relegated.
Betting Tip
Hertha BSC vs Bayern Munich | Bayern Munich Asian Handicap -1.50 @ 1.81 | |
February 06, 03:30 (GMT+8) |
If you are looking for a sure win, it would be wise to root for a Bayern Munich victory this Friday night.
The latest Bundesliga 2021 odds in the 1X2 market have the Bavarian giants winning at 1.29, while Hertha Berlin are at 9.00 and chances for a draw are at 5.60.
Needless to say that Hertha should bring their A-game and more if they’re ever going to have a chance against the defending Bundesliga champions.
But Bayern Munich are on a roll right now and Hansi Flick will instruct his boys to keep their foot on the gas pedal, and that may be too much for the Old Lady to handle.
