Dreams of Home made light work of his opposition when running away with the maiden hurdle at Wetherby on Tuesday for Donald McCain. The unbeaten former maiden point to point winner is an exciting young prospect and looks one to follow. I’m heading to Market Rasen tomorrow where I have three rides – MansionBet are sponsoring the fixture which features a stellar card with three races live on ITV4…
Saturday 16th January – Market Rasen
12:20pm:
MansionBet’s Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Chase – Agamemmon
I won on him at Sedgefield in December 2019 for Henry Oliver and I’m led to believe he needed his first run of the season over 2½ miles last time out. He’s stepping back up in trip tomorrow and seeing as it’s the first race of the day, I’d like to hope the going won’t be too bad – he’s won on soft ground nonetheless.
He’s only 4lb higher than when he won at Sedgefield and has course and distance form which should hopefully stand him in good stead. I’d say he has an each way chance.
Agamemmon is 16/1

14:40:
MansionBet’s Bet 10 Get 20 Hurdle – Chidswell
I finished 3rd in the Sky Bet Chase on him last season – he’s a 12yo now but some of his chase form is decent. You’d have to think, off his handicap hurdle rating, that he’s up against it with a lot of horses rated higher. He’s in good form at home so will hopefully run well but there are a few in there that are better off – he’s running against 152 and 149 rated horses off level weights.
Chidswell is 50/1

15:15:
Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race – Merry Mistress
I’ve not ridden her before but visually she was very impressive when winning on her debut at Hereford by 8½ lengths. The horse who finished second ran again and won on Monday so I’m hoping for another bold show. She’s obviously got the three-year-old, Eileendover, to beat who bolted up in two junior bumpers over 1m4f and 1m5f – she looks very good. Merry Mistress has to give her 11lb but that filly has to get an extra 3f – the way she galloped through the line on her two previous starts would suggest she would, but she’s still got to go and do it.
Merry Mistress looks decent and we have to be hopeful.
Merry Mistress is 10/3
