There were some surprising outcomes during week three of NFL action, and we head into another week with a load of excitement. Our resident NFL writer Liz Bhandari (NFLGirlUK) joins us again to take us through three games you should watch out for…
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New England Patriots
This is a game that I am certain everybody is looking forward to. Not only is Tom Brady making his return to Gillette Stadium, but he is also going up against his former team and the quarterback that is doing the job he used to do for so many years. Tampa Bay is coming off a rough loss against the Los Angeles Rams, a game they didn’t run the ball well at all in. They should be coming back more locked in and prepared than ever before. I would also imagine that Brady would like to smoke his former coach and teammates, and should have a giant chip on his shoulder. The Patriots just got dominated by the New Orleans Saints last weekend with Mac Jones being pressured on what felt like every drop back. He threw three interceptions and there were multiple receivers dropping easy passes. I would bet on the Buccaneers to win this game with confidence. Not only is it hard to bet against Brady in any game but the Patriots are coming off a very ugly loss. Playing the Super Bowl champions doesn’t make their lives any easier.
Houston Texans vs. Buffalo Bills
Let’s face it, this game probably won’t be that close. Tyrod Taylor has proven to be a very good fit with this Houston offense, but he is likely not going to be available for this date with the Bills due to injury. He missed their last game against the Carolina Panthers and the team only put up nine total points. Rookie quarterback Davis Mills has potential, but he just isn’t going to be able to outscore one of the most explosive offenses in the league, especially against a great Bills secondary at that. If you are looking for a great bet, I would roll with Buffalo in this matchup. The Texans have surprised me in the past but everything in this contest is pointing towards a Buffalo blowout. The Bills just walloped the Washington Football Team last week and they are arguably better than the Texans.
Tennessee Titans vs. New York Jets
The Jets have been crushed in every game that they have played this year (sorry Jets fans…) and not all of that falls on the shoulders of rookie quarterback Zach Wilson. As a team, they have simply not been good. Their offensive line hasn’t done well in the run or pass game and it has caused Wilson to rush progressions and force passes. Their defense is out on the field too often and eventually allows big play after big play. Now they have to line up against Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, and Julio Jones? Let’s be real, the Titans are going to be winning this ball game. I would even say that they blow them out, despite the fact that Tennessee has a pretty bad defense themselves.
