On Tuesday evening, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich go head-to-head at Signal Iduna Park in a Klassiker contest that has the feel of a Bundesliga title decider.
With a gap of just four points separating champions Bayern from challengers Dortmund in first and second place respectively, the outcome of their showpiece skirmish will have potentially season-defining ramifications.
Dortmund and the domestically dominant Bavarians have momentum behind them after six-game winning streaks, though the hosts will also be putting the division’s last remaining unbeaten home record on the line against the their traditional rivals.

Borussia Dortmund team news and injuries
Key central defender Mats Hummels is touch and go for Tuesday game after he came off in Dortmund’s last assignment against Wolfsburg with an achilles injury.
Long-term absentee Axel Witsel could be in line for a return, though the midfielder will likely be handed a role on the subs bench initially.
Emre Can should be available again and fit enough to challenge Thomas Delaney and Mahmoud Dahoud for a starting berth in the middle of the pitch.
The biggest question mark remains over Jadon Sancho however. The prolific winger didn’t make the starting XI for either of Dortmund’s matches since the resumption of the 2019/20 campaign, though Lucian Favre is unlikely to leave out one of his star attackers against Bayern, especially with Marco Reus still out.

Bayern Munich team news and injuries
Goal-scoring wide forward Serge Gnabry is expected to be drafted back into the Bayern team having been named among the substitutes for Die Roten’s 5-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend.
Philippe Coutinho, Thiago and Corentin Tolisso make up a trio of injured midfield players for the champions, though manager Hansi Flick has plenty of quality cover to make up for their absence.
Ex-Dortmund star Robert Lewandowski, who scored twice against his old club in November, will spearhead the attack once again, with Thomas Muller and Kinsley Coman making up the rest of his supporting cast alongside Gnabry.
Ivan Perisic will likely be the one to lose out in Bayern’s frontline having been hooked after an hour against Frankfurt.
