The Championship continues with intense schedule as Birmingham City settles with Norwich City on 23 February 2021.
It has been a spectacular season so far in the Championship and although the stands have echoed empty, we have been able to enjoy high-class football from what is the second-highest league in the English league system. But it is also a series that offers a lot of bottom pin and the matches can vary quite significantly in terms of quality and level. In other words, there is a big difference between the top and the bottom. At least usually.
But what makes this season a little special is that the differences between the league’s best teams, according to the table Norwich City, and some teams at the bottom. According to the table, Birmingham City should undoubtedly be seen as a bottom team.
There may be a total of 33 points between these two teams, which is two points more than the number of games that have been played so far. But the fact that from Rotherham in relegation place (29 points) and Cardiff City on the seventh place (46 points) only separates 17 points says some.
Birmingham City is with 15 rounds left to play off the season deeply involved in the bottom battle and really needs to rise. Thanks to three points against the second-jumbo Sheffield Wednesday last, however, it looks better.
Birmingham City is not good enough
Birmingham City may have taken a heavy three-pointer last, but before that had a shape pointing in the wrong direction, with a strike game that in three of the last four matches (before last) had resulted in zero forward goals.
Now they face one of the league’s best defensive teams, which cut far below one goal scored per game and after the other top teams have fallen through at the end really pulled out of the top.
Norwich City sees this as a gold mode to score three important points and jump at the top, while having great shape with five shutouts in their last seven games.
In other words, Birmingham City is going to have a very hard time in this game. It feels pretty clear in advance.
