The all-LPL semi-final will feature Bilibili Gaming and Weibo Gaming, who last met on June 24, where they played a 3-map series that BLG took 2-1 during the regular season of the LPL Summer Split.
Bilibili Gaming has been somewhat of a giant killer throughout LoL Worlds 2023. In their final Swiss-Stage series, BLG eliminated the top seed from LEC in G2 Esports to earn qualification into the knockout stage of the tournament, where they would face Gen.G. After starting the series with back-to-back map wins to take a 2-0 lead, the top seed from the LCK hit back with two map wins of their own to take the series to a fifth and final map. However, it would be BLG who would send another top seed packing, as they finished the series with a dominant win over the Worlds second favourite.
Weibo Gaming have been fighting for survival at LoL Worlds 2023 ever since their second series of the Swiss-Stage, as they went on a two-game losing streak and found themselves in the one-win and two-loss bracket. However, they rallied and defeated the second and third seeds from the LEC in back-to-back series to earn the final spot in the knockout stage. WBG drew the easiest of the eight teams in the quarter-finals, drawing NRG from LCS, and they would go on to smash the American team in dominant 3-0 fashion to book a spot in the semi-finals.
Although Bilibili Gaming finished in first place in the LPL and Weibo Gaming only finished in sixth place in the LPL Summer Split, these two are expected to play out a classic match here. Both BLG and WBG have found their best form now, and they are coming off strong performances at their most recent outing. BLG may be heavy favourites for this series, but we see this series going the distance.
