France to Qualify
Over 2 Goals in the Match
Both Teams to Score
Over 4 England Corners
England and France will face one another in a fascinating quarter final match-up. Both sides can be pleased with their progress at the tournament, and both will fancy their chances of making it through to the last four.
France had the luxury of being able to rest players for their final group against Tunisia and although they were defeated in that contest, their key men looked fairly fresh in the round of 16. Kylian Mbappe was the star of the show once again, however Olivier Giroud and Antoine Griezmann’s contributions cannot be overlooked. Didier Deschamp’s side produced an impressive xG total during the group stage and the holders are likely to find the back of the net at some point during the 90 minutes.
England continues their excellent record in knock-out matches under Gareth Southgate with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Senegal in the round of 16. Although the Three Lions have looked excellent going forward at times during this tournament, there have been some uninspiring periods. England were easily second best during the first 30 minutes of their match against Senegal and they failed to create anything of note against the USA during the group stage.
England will be up for this, and they are likely to find the net, however, if they have any poor periods, France are likely to fully capitalise.
Finally, as the match begins to become a little stretched, I suspect that there will be chances at both ends of the field. England only managed three corners against Senegal, however, they were largely in control of that game, particularly in the second half. If they find themselves behind here, they are going to have to chase the game and the number of corners could easily increase.
