Bayern Munich head into the semi-finals of the Champions League as the team to beat and they will be confident of beating Lyon when the two sides meet on Wednesday in Lisbon.
The Bavarians booked their place in the final four by thrashing Barcelona 8-2 on Friday night, but Lyon will expect to at least give a good account of themselves after dumping Manchester City and Juventus out of the competition.
Bayern Ready to Extend Unbeaten Run
Hansi Flick’s men are unbeaten in their last 24 matches in all competitions, putting them firmly on course to win the treble having already wrapped up the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal.
Flick’s side beat Chelsea 7-1 across two legs to reach the quarter-finals, while they proved far too strong for Barcelona last week.
Even with several superstars in the Blaugrana team, including a certain Lionel Messi, Bayern tore the Spaniards to shreds with Alphonso Davies amongst those playing a starring role.
Thomas Muller and Philippe Coutinho both scored braces, while Ivan Perisic, Serge Gnabry, Joshua Kimmich and Robert Lewandowski also got on the scoresheet.
Their reward is a meeting with underdogs Lyon, who have equipped themselves very well so when eliminating have Juventus and Manchester City.
While their efforts against two of Europe’s best sides have been impressive, they should fall victim to Bayern’s relentless attack. However, it is worth considering Bayern to win and both teams to score at 11/8 with the Bavarians having not been watertight at the back.
Goals Galore Expected in Portugal
Les Gones have continued to play up to the underdog tag this season, and they stunned City on the counter-attack on several occasions last weekend.
While they have the pace to do it again, Bayern seem on another level to City, and backing goals is certainly a favourable route to go down when considering other options.
Over 3.5 goals is priced at 20/23, with both teams no stranger to a big scoreline.
Two of Lyon’s last five games have seen over 3.5 goals land, while four of Bayern’s last five matches have featured four or more goals.
Lewandowski the Man to Watch in Lisbon
While Coutinho and Muller stepped up with two goals apiece last Friday, Lewandowski is still the main man at Bayern. He has now scored in eight consecutive Champions League appearances for Bayern, with only Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo bettering that in the competition’s history.
Lewandowski has also managed to turn provider in recent weeks, but he is likely to be in the right place at the right time for the Bavarians come Wednesday.
The former Borussia Dortmund ace is 7/4 to score first, while he is 5/6 to net two or more.
