Bayern Munich should be able to maintain their position at the top of the Bundesliga by Saturday evening when they host Arminia Bielefeld in the 5:30pm kick-off.
Going into Saturday’s fixtures, the Bavarian giants hold a one-point advantage over Borussia Dortmund and that could well still be the case come the end of play on Saturday with Julian Nagelsmann’s side expected to get the better of a Bielefeld side who are in the relegation zone.
Nagelsmann Calls for ‘Hunger’
However, Nagelsmann has warned his players they must “be ready from the start to go into the duels with absolute hunger”, labelling Saturday’s clash “an extremely important match” following last weekend’s shock defeat at Augsburg and with a trip to Dortmund coming up on December 4.
Bayern have not been at their most dominant best in Germany so far this season and have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last six games, including on Tuesday when they won 2-1 at Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League to seal first place in the group. With that in mind, a Bayern win with both teams to score at 13/10 appeals in the evening kick-off.
There are two games in the German top flight on Sunday with Eintracht Frankfurt hosting Union Berlin at 2:30pm and RB Leipzig at home to Bayer Leverkusen at 4:30pm.
Eintracht on the Up
Eintracht are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions, winning three, and appear to be on the up with a place in the knockout stages of the Europa League also secured recently.
They face a Union outfit who have probably surpassed expectations so far this term as they sit up in fifth place in the table, with five wins on the board from their first 12 games.
Union saw off Hertha 2-0 in the Berlin derby last weekend and then followed that up with another win to nil, this time 1-0, over Maccabi Haifa in the Europa Conference League. Union have scored in each of their last nine games, Eintracht have found the back of the net in their last five so backing both teams to score in this one at 20/29 looks wise.
Top-Four Hopefuls Clash in Leipzig
Leipzig and Leverkusen then meet in the later game and both will have designs on finishing in the top four this season. Leverkusen currently sit fourth but Leipzig are down in seventh, three points behind their opponents.
Leverkusen secured top spot in their Europa League group with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Celtic on Thursday so will go into Sunday’s clash with plenty of confidence but so too will Leipzig as they thrashed Club Brugge 5-0 in the Champions League as they look to finish third in Group A.
Leipzig are favourites at 10/11 to win, with an away win 11/4, but a draw at 59/20 might be the way to go as these two appear to be fairly evenly-matched.
A closer look at their respective Bundesliga records so far this term shows Leverkusen have scored just two more goals (25 compared to 23) while Leipzig have conceded four fewer (13 compared to 17) so a tight contest at the RB Arena should be expected.
