A busy day of racing action on Thursday includes a jumps card at Bangor-on-Dee where MansionBet are proud to be sponsors of two races on the day.
They get underway at 1.30pm with a six-race card taking place on what’s likely to be ‘heavy’ going. The action concludes at 4.00pm.
Watch all the action via live streaming when logged into MansionBet, as well as every race from the UK and Ireland. Our tipster has race-by-race selections for the Bangor card.
1.30 – Follow MansionBetRace On Twitter Handicap Chase (2m1½f)
Ring The Moon won chases at Leicester and Taunton last spring on heavy ground over longer trips than this and Evan Williams’ charge was in the process of running a big race at Ffos Las a week ago when he came down late on. If he’s none the worse he has his chance. The mare ALTUMANINA was behind Kingston King in second over C&D last month, but that was an improved effort on only her second start over fences and she might build on it now with the re-opposing winner well held since.
Selection: Altumanina @ SP
2.00 – Stella Artois Handicap Chase (3m)
CLONDAW PROMISE is seemingly going to be a better chaser than he was a hurdler. Jonjo O’Neill’s charge has won his last two starts at Lingfield (2m4f, soft) and Uttoxeter (2m6½f, soft) and promises to be well suited having his stamina teased out some more now. He’s 5lb higher in the ratings but the returning Kevin Brogan offsets a chunk of that in the saddle.
Selection: Clondaw Promise @ SP
2.30 – MansionBet Proud To Support British Racing Maiden Hurdle (2m3½f)
Reilly has twice finished second in as many hurdles starts and should be in the mix again, while Contemplatemyfaith has shown enough in two runs for Olly Murphy to suggest a maiden will be within reach for him. They are overlooked today in favour of BARROWDALE for Donald McCain. The once-raced point-to-point winner was second in a bumper at this course last month and should improve for the switch to hurdling with that run behind him.
Selection: Barrowdale @ SP
3.00 – Magners Handicap Hurdle (2m7f)
The Lucinda Russell-trained GREEN VAULT was well-backed for his handicap bow at Ayr (2m5½f, heavy) on Sunday and he duly obliged with a minimum of fuss under Alan Doyle. That having come in a Conditional Jockeys’ event, he escapes a penalty and therefore is expected to take some stopping turned around quickly.
Selection: Green Vault @ SP
3.30 – Corona Beer Handicap Hurdle (2m3½f)
Hart Of Steel has already won this season over timber at this sort of distance and can be forgiven having found a Class 2 Haydock race too much last month. Donald McCain’s charge could well rebound now. OXWICH BAY is the old boy in the line-up as a 10YO but he’s a versatile sort and October’s seasonal bow at Chepstow (2m7½f, good) offered hope that he can strike from this sort of mark before long. He boasts winning form on heavy ground and won’t mind the drop in trip.
Selection: Oxwich Bay @ SP
4.00 – Goose Island Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (2m½f)
The mare ROCK OF FAME showed promise despite remaining a maiden in her eight-race career on the Flat and it was a similar tale on hurdling bow at Lingfield (2m, good to soft) in late November as she finished third for Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch. The pair that beat her haven’t run since but if she builds on that positive start she can go close now. Uttoxeter bumper winner Corey’s Courage for Olly Murphy is a likely danger on hurdles bow.
Selection: Rock Of Fame @ SP
