There is a big midweek of La Liga football to get stuck into across Wednesday and Thursday with all four of the league’s title challengers in action, starting with Sevilla’s trip to Levante.
With just over one month of the season remaining, Atletico Madrid continue to hold top spot on 70 points, three ahead of Real Madrid in second, five clear of third-placed Barcelona, while Sevilla are six points behind the table-toppers.
Los Nervionenses Ready to Pounce
Huge amounts of credit has to go to Julen Lopetegui and the job he is currently doing with Sevilla, who are still very much in the title race and head into Wednesday’s clash at Levante (18:00 KO) on a seven-game unbeaten streak across all competitions.
Los Nervionenses are playing some great football at the moment, scoring 13 goals during this impressive run, and they should have enough quality to overcome a Levante side who have lost three of their last four games.
Youssef En-Nesyri has been the main man for Sevilla this season, scoring 16 La Liga goals, and he could be worth a punt at 2/1 to bag the first or last goal at the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia.
With all the talk of this proposed European Super League, neutrals will be hoping Sevilla can snatch the title from Spain’s ‘Big Three’ and show money isn’t everything when it comes to football.
Los Blancos to Get Back on Track
Real Madrid have uncharacteristically slipped up at a crucial stage of the season and they head into Wednesday’s 21:00 clash at Cadiz on the back of two straight draws – against Liverpool in the Champions League and then Getafe in the league.
It is worth mentioning Zinedine Zidane’s men are still on a 15-game unbeaten streak across all competitions – winning 11 and drawing four – and they should have no issues seeing off Cadiz.
The hosts sit 13th in the standings and are set for another season in the Spanish top flight, but they have little to play for and are expected to get outclassed at the Nuevo Estadio Ramon de Carranza.
Cadiz have won the last two meetings across all competitions, but Madrid know they have the chance to move level on points with table-toppers Atletico and backing Los Blancos to win to nil at 21/20 looks good value.
Atleti Under Pressure
When Atletico Madrid get their home clash against Huesca under way on Thursday (18:00 KO), they could find themselves locked on points with Real, while Sevilla may also have cut the gap to just three points.
The pressure is firmly on Diego Simeone’s men, but they did produce a brilliant performance when thumping Eibar 5-0 at home last time out, making it three straight wins at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
Another victory is expected for Atleti, which is available at 2/5, but there could be some value in backing relegation-threatened Huesca in the double-chance market at 39/20.
Thursday’s visitors are only above the drop zone on goal difference, so they desperately need the points, and they are showing fight, having taken seven points from the last 12 on offer.
Barca Looking Dangerous
Barcelona have a game in hand on all of the teams around them, having taken a break from league action to beat Athletic Bilbao 4-0 in the Copa del Rey final last time out, and they look ready to pounce on any mistakes made.
The Catalans have only lost one of their last 11 across all competitions – that loss the El Clasico defeat to Real – and Ronald Koeman’s men are scoring at will right now.
Barca have notched 28 strikes during this impressive run and they should have too much for the visiting Getafe, who are without a win from their last six matches, on Thursday (20:00 KO).
Jose Bordalas’ men haven’t won away from home in the last six – losing five on the spin before drawing at Osasuna – and the Barcelona win with over 2.5 goals in the match looks a solid bet at 10/13.
