12.45 – Stella Artois British EBF Novice Stakes (7f)
Not that much in the way of form in the opener, with Arqoob setting the standard after his fourth on the all-weather at Wolverhampton last month. Bake also ran well enough at Sandown and both should improve.
Newcomers Innovator and Military Man must be of interest but perhaps TELL’EM NOWT can step up on his Sandown maiden run where he offered something to work on.
Tip: Tell’em Nowt @ 13/2
13.20 – Moet & Chandon British EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes (1m)
Last Sunset won on debut at Kempton before finishing second at that track since and is the standard-bearer conceding weight to her rivals. John Gosden’s Kingman filly MONSOON MOON is entitled to be good on paper and she holds a Group 1 entry for next month. She might be up to the job on first start.
Tip: Monsoon Moon @ 5/2
1.55 – Ascot Wine Club Handicap (5f)
CELSIUS was on target in his seasonal bow at Haydock over the minimum distance in June. He has been in and out in four starts since, twice going well alongside two tame runs.
He has ground to make up on Bath winner Concierge from their clash 17 days ago but, with this track to suit and a 5lb pull at the weights, may do that.
Tip: Celsius @ 13/2
2.30 – Betfred British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap (1m)
INDIE ANGEL didn’t cut it in a Group 3 at Sandown 13 days ago but previous to that she had produced a standout effort when scoring at Salisbury. Back amongst handicappers, John Gosden’s filly should prove a tough nut to crack at a track where the Clarehaven handler does so well.
Tip: Indie Angel @ 9/2
3.05 – Lavazza Stakes (Heritage Handicap, 1m4f)
In danger of following KIPPS to the poor house at this stage but it’s hard to believe he’s 0-4 this term with plenty promise in those outings. The standout amongst them was a close second to subsequent group-race scorer Hukum at the Royal Meeting here in June.
Having perhaps not stayed 1m6f at York last time and with Hughie Morrison’s team in rude health, (26 per-cent lately) this might be the day for the War Command colt with track, trip and conditions ideal.
Tip: Kipps @ 7/2
3.40 – Tweenhills Follow The Foals Handicap (6f)
SPANISH CITY has a somewhat underwhelming record of three wins from 23 starts on turf but he is very consistent (placed nine times) and should give a solid account of himself in this contest.
He ran a rare poor race here in the International last month but his previous course form, including a placed effort in the Wokingham over this trip in June gives him leading claims. The hat-trick seeking May Sonic isn’t dismissed despite being up 9lb for his Kempton win.
Tip: Spanish City @ 7/1
4.15 – Porsche Handicap (7f)
He remains low-mileage and, after a disappointing reappearance at the Royal Meeting here in June, WILLIE JOHN was gelded and with much more purpose at Glorious Goodwood (fourth).
A drop in distance may assist his cause and trainer Roger Varian has his team in excellent form (12-47 lately) while he has enjoyed more Ascot winners than anyone this season.
Tip: Willie John @ 15/2
