The current no.2 on the ESL Pro Tour 2021/22 Korea, Lee “Rogue” Byeong-yeol will look to justify his tag as a heavy favourite by beating Koh “GuMiho” Byung-jae in the opening match of Group A. It will mark their first meeting since GSL Season 1 qualifiers on March 10, when Rogue won 2-1.
Rogue clashed with GuMiho 37 times throughout his career and won 23 series with a 63-47 game record, so it’s hard to argue with the offered StarCraft betting odds. Moreover, Rogue has an excellent record against Terran (71.43% win rate) and has recently claimed a bronze medal from IEM Katowice 2022.
GuMiho took a game away from Rogue last week, so it would be fair to believe he can do some damage on Wednesday. But GuMiho is known for struggling against top-tier players, and we would argue his minor success against Rogue last time out was a fluke more than anything else. HerO last met with Dream last week, when he won 3-1, so it’s fair to expect him to be as dominant on Wednesday. However, we would take herO’s commanding win with a grain of salt.
HerO was the better player on the day and is 3-1 up in the head-to-head across his last four meetings with Dream. However, Dream has achieved far more this season and holds a respectable win percentage against Protoss (59.8%). It’s also worth noting that herO’s win rate against Terran has dropped to 52.24% from his career average of 62.15%, so he might not be best suited to clash with one of the best Korean Terran players.
Given his past record against Dream, herO should have a slight advantage for this match, but not large enough to justify betting on him at $1.54. At the offered SCII betting odds, the value is with Dream.
