With the vast majority of world sport suspended, darts has emerged as one of the shining lights in the sporting calendar. It’s one of the few sports that has genuine potential to be played at home, and we’ve already seen that with the ongoing Modus Icons of Darts league.
Now the Professional Darts Corporation has jumped into the mix, announcing a special at home tournament set to begin imminently. Here’s all you need to know about the PDC Home Tour.
The best darts players on the planet will resume competition on Friday evening after the Professional Darts Corporation announced that it would be holding its first tournament to be played directly from players’ homes.
All 128 PDC tour card holders will have the chance to play in the new PDC Home Tour which will take place across 32 consecutive nights starting on Friday.
How does the PDC Home Tour work?
Each night will see four different players take on each other once over the best of nine legs in a league format.
The winner of each group will then qualify for the second phase of the competition.
Where can I watch the PDC Home Tour?
All the action will be streamed for free live via the PDC’s own online subscription TV channel and also on a series of bookmakers’ websites.
Matches will commence at 7.30pm each night with darts commentator Dan Dawson on hand to talk you through the action. There will also be live graphics to accompany each match.
Will FST have PDC Home Tour tips?
Of course!
All our free tips will be posted daily over on our Darts Tips page. While the PDC Home Tour doesn’t start until Friday, we still have daily tips going live for the ongoing A Night at the Darts fixtures.
Who is involved?
The 128 PDC tour card holders have all been invited to take part and a number have already taken to social media to throw their support behind the initiative.
Australian star Simon Whitlock confirmed on Wednesday that he would take part in the tournament and that he will also donate his appearance fee to an NHS charity in Portsmouth.
The first four groups of participants are due to be announced on Wednesday. Check back here for updates.
