Three teams can still earn automatic promotion, three are still fighting for the final two playoff spots, and five sides are still able to be relegated – that is what is on the line as the Championship campaign comes to a conclusion on Wednesday night.
The Race for Automatic Promotion Continues
Leeds United enjoyed a rare weekend of pure joy as they were promoted on Friday and crowned champions on Saturday, all without kicking a ball.
While Leeds’ focus switches to the Premier League, their Championship rivals still have it all to play for as they try to secure the final automatic spot.
As it stands, West Brom have their fate in their own hands and they will welcome Queens Park Rangers to The Hawthorns in the knowledge a victory will send them back to the promised land.
However, the Baggies have not won any of their last three and QPR, who ran out 4-3 winners against Millwall last time out, will be hoping to spoil the party and they are 11/1 to claim the spoils.
If West Brom fail to win, Brentford can claim automatic promotion if they beat Barnsley, while a draw for the Bees could also be enough to clinch second spot.
Defeat for the Baggies and a slip up from Fulham, who are two points behind WBA and away to Wigan on Wednesday, would give Brentford the chance to go up with a draw.
Playoff Race Not Over
The two remaining playoff spots are still up for grabs but a huge swing is needed if Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City are to miss out.
The duo sit on 70 points ahead of the final fixtures, with seventh-placed Swansea City the only other team that can catch them on 67 points.
The Swans travel to Reading and the visitors are 20/21 to come out on top, while Forest and Cardiff go up against Stoke City and Hull respectively.
Relegation Scrap Going Down to the Wire
If the Bluebirds win they will earn a playoff spot and relegate Hull, who are three points from safety and require a minor miracle to survive.
Barnsley will also be relegated if they do not win and it looks a tough ask for them to claim the spoils against Brentford at Griffin Park, with the Tykes 29/4 to come out on top.
Wigan will also drop down to League One if they do not win at home to Fulham, with the Latics expected to be handed a 12-point deduction for going into administration.
Luton Town have done incredibly well to give themselves a chance of surviving the drop and Nathan Jones’ side can avoid the drop if they beat Blackburn Rovers at home.
The Hatters, who sit 22nd, are level on points with 21st-placed Charlton, who are 7/2 to get the better of champions Leeds at Elland Road.
Middlesbrough and Birmingham are both two points clear of the relegation zone and one of those two could still get relegated.
Boro are away to Sheffield Wednesday while the Blues are at home to Derby County.
