After a Tuesday Treble, Hayley is Looking for More Wins at Bath and Epsom

It’s been a great week so far! I had a winner at Chelmsford on Monday for Henry Spiller, before riding a treble on Tuesday evening at Lingfield! It was a brilliant feeling and I was so happy to ride it for three different Newmarket trainers, particularly for Harry Eustace and Charlie Fellowes who have supported me a huge amount this year. They are both brilliant trainers who are going places.

I am at Bath tomorrow for a busy day of rides before riding at Epsom on Saturday for Derby Day! I am also on ITV Racing in between my rides. It’s always special to ride at Epsom on Derby Day and this year will be no different.

Friday Racing at Bath

6:40pm – GYENYAME

GYENYAME (8/1) makes his handicap debut having not shown a huge amount in his three starts to date. He has also been gelded which can sometimes bring out improvement in a horse, as it enables them to concentrate more and focus on their racing. Sir Mark Prescott’s Yagan arrives here in good form and should prove quite hard to beat, but it’s a small field and it could turn into a tactical affair, which could suit my horse.

7:10pm – BORN TO DESTROY

BORN TO DESTROY (22/1) has yet to win for Richard Spencer but has hit the frame in 8 of his starts. He wears a visor for the first time today and is down to a mark of only 70. He has shown enough ability in his career to prove that he is capable of winning off this mark, so fingers crossed today’s the day!

7:40pm – BAY WATCH

BAY WATCH (4/1) is a bit of a Bath 5-furlong specialist! His form figures here read 163113 and for that reason alone, you have to say he’d have a big chance of winning here today. This is my first-time riding for Joe Ponting so fingers crossed we get off to a winning start! I’m looking forward to this one.

8:40pm – STONY LOOK

STONY LOOK (50/1) will be my second ever ride for Joe Ponting! She is a very lightly raced filly who was previously with Andrew Balding. This is her first run in nearly a year but she has since had a wind-operation. Having watched back her races, her first two starts showed signs of promise but she didn’t show much on her final two starts for Andrew. Let’s hope the change of scene and wind-operation has done the trick.

Saturday Racing at Epsom

2:00pm – SOLENT GETAWAY

SOLENT GETAWAY (28/1) only ran last week but didn’t show a huge amount when finishing 9th at Chelmsford. On his best form, he has been competitive and is definitely up to winning races, but this is a typical Derby Day handicap and we will have to show a fair amount of improvement to hit the frame.

3:45pm – SAAHEQ

SAAHEQ (25/1) is a grand old horse who is very consistent. He very rarely runs a bad race and has done his connections very proud. The Epsom Dash is one of the fastest 5-furlong races run in the UK and is always incredibly competitive. We are drawn 9 which is fine but I feel like we might be vulnerable to some unexposed sprinters. It’s always a brilliant spectacle though and this race can throw up some unexpected results.

5:50pm – CANAGAT

CANAGAT (28/1) makes his first start for local trainer Simon Dow having moved back to the UK from France. His two-year-old career was spent in Lambourn with Archie Watson, where he showed a nice level of form to win a couple of races. His form in France didn’t match that though and he returns here with a point to prove. Simon always has a good record here and tends to target so many of these races well in advance. It’d be awesome to ride a winner for him on Derby Day at his local track, so here’s hoping he can return to his two-year-old form!
