IT’S been a pretty dismal 2021 for Aberdeen so far but they can ease the pressure on under fire manager Derek McInnes today by getting a much needed and over due three points.
People reading this will be thinking how can you possibly be backing Aberdeen today given their retched form but sometimes you need to look beyond the form.
Despite their lack of goals (no goals in 4) and their generally poor performances, I have have some compelling reasons why at even money they should he backed.
They still have a very decent team and with an overhaul in their strikers during the transfer window that saw Main and Cosgrove leave and Hornsby, Kamberi and Hendry coming in, it should freshen things up.
It’s worth remembering that they are still only 5pts off Hibs in 3rd.
Secondly, Derek McInnes has been here time and time again, under serous pressure yet he always manages to pull a result out of the bag when he most needs it.
Aberdeens home record against St Mirren is outstanding – they‘ve lost just TWO of their last 25 games and you have to go back 10 years to 2011 to find St Mirren’s last victory at Pittodrie.
St Mirren travel here fresh off a 4-0 doing by Celtic and are minus three of their five strikers and most worrringly they will be without their star man and most creative player Jamie McGrath.
Yes Aberdeen have been struggling but this is exactly the sort of game they need at home to get back to winning ways.
St Mirren are missing some key players and do not enjoy their trips here.
Aberdeen are too big for me not to get on
