There’s a super Saturday in store for English Premier League football bettors with eight games to study up, with six of those in the beloved traditional 3pm kick-off which will offer up many accumulator opportunities.
Slick City to Punish Tottenham
Champions League trio Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City will be the bedrock of most multiple bets and it is difficult to oppose any of them against Crystal Palace, Norwich and Tottenham respectively, particularly with Spurs totally out of form ahead of the daunting trip to tackle the champions at the Etihad.
Spurs have lost three league games in a row to leave Antonio Conte already making noises about his suitability for the long-term planning needed to revive the club and City deserve to be 1/4 favourites to pile the pressure on the Londoners.
City were so slick in the resounding 5-0 success over Sporting in Lisbon Tuesday with Bernardo Silva continuing his magnificent form. Pep Guardiola’s men, with 19 wins in their last 21, and ten victories in a row at home, are looking pretty much unstoppable right now.
However, City’s odds are cramped and taking them to win with both teams scoring appeals more at 31/20. The Premier League leaders have conceded in half of those ten straight home successes and Spurs have scored on eight of their last 11 visits to the Etihad, with Heung-Min Son or Harry Kane possessing the quality for a consolation.
Arsenal to Enhance Top-Four Claims
Defeat for Spurs would be music to the ears of their north London neighbours and top-four rivals Arsenal, who can claim a vital victory over Brentford at the Emirates.
However, rather than take the Gunners at 5/12 it may pay to go for the Arsenal win and under 3.5 goals at 10/11.
Arsenal have kept five clean sheets in their last seven matches, although they are not a particularly free-flowing outfit and are short on offensive options as highlighted by the statistic of Mikel Arteta’s team notching only twice in six matches in 2022.
Brentford lost 2-0 at City, 3-0 at Liverpool and 2-0 at Tottenham and are yet to visit Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford so tend to struggle to score on their big-six visits.
World Champions on Show at Palace
Liverpool are 1/9 to beat Norwich for the third time this season but a more competitive fixture takes place at Selhurst Park when newly-crowned world champions Chelsea return to domestic matters for the short trip to take on Crystal Palace.
It’s unlikely to be a Blues cruise for the 5/8 shots and a wiser wager could come in taking tie-Chelsea on the half-time/full-time double result market at odds of 29/10.
Five of Chelsea’s last six Premier League wins were level at the break.
Burnley to Blunt Brighton
The day starts with West Ham hosting Newcastle and the draw may be of interest at 59/20 given the improvement of the Magpies since their substantial January transfer business.
Not much stands out in Aston Villa against Watford and Southampton versus Everton, although no goalscorer at 8/1 for Burnley’s trip to Brighton is worth a second glance.
Three of the last nine league meetings have finished 0-0 and Burnley have had four goalless stalemates in their last nine Premier League matches. Strong winds are forecast by the seaside and it may well be a tough battle in tricky conditions.
