Liverpool overcame several absences to knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup at the weekend and they’ll need to dig deep once again in tonight’s first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final at Anfield.
Trent Alexandar Arnold misses out tonight but the good news is that Virgil Van Dijk should make his return in defence. With several players out through injury and a few on international duty, most notably, Mohamed Salah, Jurgen Klopp doesn’t have his problems to seek but so far his squad his proven to be full of plenty of able deputies.
Visitors Fulham are aiming to make it to the final of the competition for the first time in the club’s history but will have their work cut out against 9-time winners Liverpool who currently occupy top spot in the Premier League.
Unsurprisingly, the Reds have had the upper hand in recent meetings, winning nine of the last 11 meetings, drawing one and losing one (a 1-0 victory for Fulham at Anfield in 2021).
Its 2/5 that Liverpool will win inside the 90 minutes and 19/4 for Fulham to cause an upset and head back to London with a first leg advantage.
The sides shared seven goals when they met in December but it could be a bit tighter tonight given there’s 180 minutes to be played and neither side will be throwing caution to the wind if they’re behind. Over 2.5 Goals is just 1/2 which is incredibly short considering four of the last seven meeting have been under 2.5 goals.
Therefore there could be value in opposing goals tonight. Under 2.5 goals is a tempting 6/4, while Under 3.5 goals appeals as part of a Bet Builder at 8/13.
Doubling it with Liverpool corners looks a good option. The Reds average 7.60 corners at home in the league so five or more should land and makes for an 11/10 Bet Builder.
