The PGA Tour continues this week and The Caddy Returns with his free betting tips for the Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course, Houston, Texas.
The 132 field with the Top 65 including ties making it to the weekend will all be competing for a share of the $8.4M prize purse with the winner collecting the Houston Open title and a winner’s cheque for $1.35M.
Before I continue I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for all the kind messages, DM’s, likes etc and to all my new and existing Twitter followers as well as all the amazing faithful MFT community. We hit the Jackpot together yet again with yet another outright winner in the shape of Russell Henley at 50/1. Henley made it look so easy and never really looked in danger all weekend winning the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba.
That’s now 13 outright winners and we are going for the hat trick attempt once again this week having successfully tipped Seamus Power to win the Bermuda Championship at 25/1 the previous week.
Congratulations to both Russell and Seamus and well done to each and every one of you who collected a few quid to make those bookie satchels even lighter, it’s bookie bashing at its finest and as always I’m more than happy and glad I can help you all.
All I ask for in return is you take the time to read my previews and if I have provided you with some winners, then please hit the share button below.
Let’s not stop there, let’s get the hat trick in the bag this weekend and on that note let’s get back to this week’s golf betting preview.
Jason Kokrak returns to defend the title he won at Memorial last year where he had Scottie Scheffler hot on his heels but prevailed with a winning scorecard reading 270 , -10.
Memorial Park Golf Course will be playing 7,412 yards long this week, it’s a par 70 parkland layout where the key to success will most certainly include a hot putter on these slick dance floors and Greens in Regulation figures will need to be good with some tough Bermuda rough worth avoiding.
The weather is forecast to be hot and warm for the first two rounds then cooling off but still nice and pleasant over the weekend. Breezes will peak at around 14-15 mph.
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf & red button with live coverage starting at 12.45 pm on Thursday afternoon.
So without further ado let’s get on with this week’s Houston Open betting tips and see if we can get this hat trick in the bag.
Scottie Scheffler 6/1 Unibet
For my first and main selection in Houston, I’m not messing about here, I’m going to keep the faith in a player I told you all about before he had won anything, SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER 6/1 Unibet.
I usually try to stay clear of any favourites as you know but as I’ve always said, my job is to pick winners and sometimes you just can’t, this may be a classic case.
I’m confident that the talented 26yrs old from Dallas will return to his home state in front of the natives and scoop yet another title before the year is out. With not many tournaments remaining in 2022 then now is as good a time as any for Scottie Scheffler to finish the year on a high just as it began.
Without a victory to his name before the year started, he now has four with one being a major, it’s hats off to Scheffler with some fantastic performances especially at Augusta in April.
The winner at The Masters is for sure the icing on the cake and the world number one from Match until October will be staring down Rory McIlroy to regain the throne. The winner also at the WGC Dell Technologies Matchplay, the Arnold Palmer Invitation and the Phoenix Open, to win one tournament is an achievement, to win four including a major is phenomenal. With a bag full of Titles it’s also a bag full of stats for Scottie.
On the PGA Tour this year Scheffler ranks, 4th Driving Distance All Drives at 312.4, 3rd Lowest Round,2nd SG Off The Tee and 1st Scrambling from the Fringe at an incredible 100%. I feel that’s all the figures I need to mention with all the above in the Top 5 on the PGA Tour.
I’ll be shouting for Scottie Scheffler this week and so will all the home crowd as he fails to disappoint once again and makes it a famous five on Sunday evening when he goes one better this time and adds the Houston Open trophy to the already busy cabinet.
Maverick McNealy 25/1 Ladbrokes
For my next best selection I’m going to point you all in the direction of a player who was flashing red all over the radar for a while but then disappeared just as quickly. I had kinda gave up with Maverick McNealy (25/1 Ladbrokes) this year, but he’s flashing up red once again so I’m more than willing to give the 27-year-old from California another chance.
McNealy has four Top 20 finishes at the last four attempts including two inside the Top 10. T10th last weekend at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba, T10th also at the Shriners Children Open T12th at the Zozo Championship and T18th at The CJ Cup. Some stats that stick out on the PGA Tour for McNealy this year include what I think are the most important around Memorial Park and his figures in the Putting department are nothing short of marvellous. 6th One Putt Percentage at 49.38% , 4th Overall Putting Average at 1.488 ,4th SG Putting ,1st 3 Putt Avoidance and 1st SG Putting Total.
As mentioned the key to success most certainly involves a hot putter this week and no one is hotter than Maverick McNealy on the dance floors. It’s clear for all to see that Maverick is firing on all cylinders again with some fine recent form and this should give McNealy all the confidence he needs to go on and get that maiden PGA W in the bag. it could be all Maverick this coming Sunday at Memorial as he dances into the Memorial Park Clubhouse this coming Sunday with a well-deserved PGA maiden victory.
Aaron Wise 18/1 EW BoyleSports
For my next suggestion, I’m going to single out Aaron Wise 18/1 EW BoyleSports.I just have a feeling that the 26-year-old kid born in South Africa but raised in America is going to get another W anytime soon and it could be this weekend in Texas.
Already with a victory on the PGA Tour when winning the AT&T Byron Nelson in 2018, the four-year drought could come to an end this week for Aaron Wise. The 2018 Rookie of the year as I’ve mentioned in previous write-ups has all the credentials and a bright future awaits this talented kid. Wise has only entered twenty-two events this year with eight of those being Top 20 finishes. T6th at the Mexico Open, T6th also at the Players Championship, 6th at The CJ Cup just recently and best of all runner up at the Memorial Tournament.
A very respectable T15th last time out at Mayakoba means he certainly arrives with some fine form in the bag. With three stats in the Top 20 on the PGA Tour for Putting which include 19th SG Putting,17th 3 Putt Avoidance, 9th Total Putting and 1st on the PGA Tour Scrambling from the Fringe. It could well be Aaron Wise Scrambling all the way as he doubles up on the PGA crowns when he wins the Houston Open in Texas this weekend.
For my final selection, it’s the customary match bet and for this week’s Nap I’m going to advise that Scottie Scheffler beats Sam Burns over 72holes 4/6 Nap
Bet365.
