Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the fixture in Rotterdam, and I’m expecting goals in what has the potential to be a topsy-turvy game.
⚽️ Feyenoord vs Lazio
🇪🇺 Europa League
⏰ Thursday 3rd November, 17:45
Feyenoord welcome Lazio to De Kuip this evening in a fight to reach the knockout stages of the competition. The hosts need to win by two clear goals to finish in the top two, whilst the visitors only need to avoid defeat to guarantee a top-two finish.
Feyenoord were dealt a hammer blow last week, as they conceded in stoppage time to lose 1-0 away at Sturm Graz to leave three points adrift of the top two in Group F. Arne Slot’s side were given the weekend off by the Dutch FA, meaning they subsequently slid down to fifth position in the Eredivisie table, but are just four points behind leaders Ajax. That defeat in Austria was only the second time this season – and the first in 14 matches – that the Rotterdam club had failed to score this season. The Feyenoord defence has been far from tight in Europe this season, shipping nine goals across their five group-stage matches.
Lazio saw their three-match winless run in Group F come to an end last Thursday, as they came from behind to defeat Midtjylland 2-1 at the Olimpico. However, Maurizio Sarri’s side saw their six-match unbeaten run in Serie A come to an end on Sunday as they surrendered a one-goal lead to lose 1-3 at home to lowly Salernitana. The Biancocelesti are generally consistent in front of goal, failing to score in just three of their 17 Serie A and Europa League matches. The Rome club have struggled defensively in Europe this season, conceding 10 times.
Bet of the Day
Both Feyenoord and Lazio need a result here to reach the knockout stages of the Europa League, and De Kuip will be bouncing. It’s well-known that these two clubs are better going forward than they are defensively, meaning I’m expecting an entertaining encounter.
Collectively, over 2.5 goals has landed in 8/10 of the pair’s Europa League fixtures this season – with over 3.5 goals landing in seven of them – and given the nature of the match, I am happy to back the 2.75 Asian Goal Line. This would mean if there were exactly three goals, we would receive a half stakes profit, whilst four or more would ensure we receive a full payout.
