After a couple of weeks break the Premier League is back and there’s a busy night of football across England to look forward to.
The cloud over Goodison Park was lifted at the weekend when Frank Lampard claimed a resounding win in his first match in charge of Everton. Now he takes his Toffees side to the north east to face Newcastle who need to start picking up points fast.
The Toon Army would be forgiven for being a little underwhelmed with their transfer activity so far. Rome wasn’t built in a day but their need is great and with a seemingly blank cheque book many expected them to make a bigger splash in the January transfer window.
Just four points separate the two sides and tonight will be big indicator as to how the rest of the season might pan out for each club. The bookies don’t have much between them with the Magpies at 8/5 and their visitors at 7/4.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (8/5 to score anytime) could return for Everton and new arrivals, Dele Alli, Anwar El Ghazi and Donny van de Beek should all be available for selection. That adds a bit more firepower to Lampard’s line-up and there could be goals at St James’ Park tonight. BTTS is 7/10 but Over 2.5 Goals is a more appealing 10/11.
After an FA Cup exit at the hands of Championship side Middlesbrough, Man Utd will be desperate to get to back to winning ways at Burnley. The Red Devils have only won half of their 22 Premier League matches but still sit fourth in the table and look locked in a five-way battle to stay in that Champions League qualification position.
United have a good record at Turf Moor, winning without conceding on their last five visits, and are 13/8 to do so again.
Burnley fans will be desperate to see if new arrival Wout Weghorst can fire them to safety. The Dutchman arrives with a one-in-two scoring record at Wolfsburg and is 11/5 (Bet365) to mark his debut with a goal.
Fulham are the only top six side in action in the Championship so have the chance to extend their lead at the summit. They host Millwall and should be good enough to get the three points that’ll move them eight points clear of second placed Blackburn.
As has been well documented they’ve been rattling in the goals, scoring a massive 29 more goals than any other side in the division. The 4/11 on the Cottagers to win can be boosted to 8/13 if you take them to also score two or more.
In League Two Forest Green enjoy a ten point lead at the top of the table. They’re unbeaten in league action in almost four months, a run extending to 17 games. Therefore they should be a solid enough bet at home to Rochdale at 7/10.
