Marseille welcome Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain to the Stade Velodrome in the latest instalment of Le Classique on Sunday.
PSG Already Pulling Clear
PSG are looking to reclaim the Ligue 1 title this season and they have managed to open up a nine-point lead at the top of the standings.
They’ve won eight and lost one – going down 2-9 against Rennes prior to the international break – and it’s difficult to make a case against them coasting towards the crown.
Marseille, who sit third, will hope to cause some problems but it’s difficult to have too much faith in them when taking into recent meetings with PSG at the Velodrome and that’s represented in their 4/1 price.
The Parisians, available at 4/7, have won each of their last two visits 2-0 and they are unbeaten in nine.
Goals should be on the agenda between the league’s two highest-scoring teams, with PSG already notching 24 times and Marseille bagging 18.
The value appears to lie in a PSG win and over 2.5 goals at 23/20, especially when considering four of Marseille’s five home fixtures have contained at least three goals.
Nice Can See off Lyon
Nice have started positively and sit fourth ahead of Sunday’s midday meeting with Lyon on the Riviera.
After finishing in a disappointing ninth last term, Nice look to have the tools to fight for much higher up the standings this time around.
They are yet to taste defeat at home, winning two and drawing two, and will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing a Lyon side that has struggled on the road.
Lyon have only won one of their four away games, drawing one and losing two, while they’ve registered just three times across those fixtures.
Nice look an attractive prospect at 6/4 to come out on top and further strengthen their hopes of challenging for a European berth.
Lorient to Edge Tight Contest
Lorient have posted contrasting form home and away this season and they’ll welcome a return to the Stade du Moustoir to face Bordeaux on Sunday.
Les Merlus have earned 10 of their 14 points on home soil, winning three and drawing one, including a triumph over defending champions Lille.
They haven’t won in three but two of those games have come away and the clash with Bordeaux falls just at the right time.
Bordeaux have seriously struggled on the road with just five points to show from five fixtures.
A Lorient and under 2.5 goals, priced at 3/1, catches the eye with fewer than three goals scored in three of Lorient’s four at home thus far.
Goals on the Cards in Lens
Lens have caught the eye in the early stages of the campaign and they sit second as they prepare for the visit of 18th-placed Metz.
They suffered just their second defeat of the term last time out when on the road at Montpellier but should have too much for Metz, and it’s no surprise to see them priced at 5/9.
Goals should be on the agenda when taking into account that Metz have the worst defensive record in the division, conceding 22 times.
Metz’s games have been entertaining, if not enjoyable for their fans, with over 2.5 goals, which is available at 5/6, landing in seven of their 10 outings.
All odds correct at time of writing.
