Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me once more back Basel to score at least twice at home. Then it’s to Norway and a game I fancy for goals, with both sides contributing.
Basel vs Luzern
🇨🇭 Super League
⏰ Sunday 3rd October, 15:30
Table topping Basel host struggling Luzern at St Jakob-Park on Sunday afternoon. The hosts are currently four points clear at the top (although have played a game more) meanwhile the visitors are joint bottom.
After winning their last two league games, Basel defeated Kazakhstan side Kairat Almaty 4-2 in the Conference League on Thursday evening. Basel are still unbeaten domestically, with them winning 5/8 matches, with them scoring in every game. Basel have been in superb form at home this season, with them winning seven of their eight games in all competitions, with only champions Young Boys avoiding defeat. Basel have been banging in goals for fun at St Jakob-Park so far this season, scoring an eye-catching 29 goals in those eight matches, scoring 2+ in seven of them.
Luzern lost 2-3 against Lugano last time out which means they are still winless in the Super League this season. The main reason for this is the amount of goals they are conceding. Luzern are yet to keep a clean sheet in their eight matches, conceding 19 goals, with only St Gallen conceding more. Luzern have already conceded four goals against both Young Boys and Servette, with them also conceding three against Zürich. Only Basel have scored more goals in the league than those three sides.
Tromsø vs Haugesund
🇳🇴 Eliteserien
⏰ Sunday 3rd October, 17:00
Struggling Tromsø host Haugesund at the Alfheim Stadion on Sunday. The hosts currently sit in 13th and are just two points above the relegation zone. The visitors on the other hand currently lie mid table in 8th.
After being winless in their previous five games, Tromsø grabbed a crucial 1-2 victory away to Lillestrøm last time out. Tromsø are still without a home win this season, keeping just one clean sheet. No side has conceded more goals at home than Tromsø, with them conceding 18 goals in nine matches. Tromsø do score goals too though, with them scoring in nine successive games. They have also only failed to score in two of their home matches so far this season.
Haugesund come into this suffering back to back losses against both Kristiansund and Odd. Haugesund have been conceding far too many goals of late, failing to keep a clean sheet in their last 11 matches, conceding 26 goals. Haugesund have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six away matches in which they’ve conceded 17 times. Haugesund have scored in nine of their last 10 matches though, including in their last five away matches. They’ve scored 22 goals in those 10 matches, with 12 of them coming in their last five away games.
Bet of the Day
Basel have been scoring goals for fun at St Jakob-Park this season and I’m expecting them to bag at least another two against a leaky Luzern side. Luzern have the second worst defensive record in the league and I can only see it getting worse against a rampant Basel side. Goals have been a feature of both Tromsø’s and Haugesund’s games of late and I’m expecting that trend to continue. Both sides struggle defensively, but are more than capable of scoring, which means I fancy the chances of both sides scoring.
- Basel to Score 2+
- Tromsø vs Haugesund – Both Teams to Score
- Double Pays 59/50 (William Hill)
