Netherlands v Denmark
The Netherlands ended the group stage extremely strongly with back-to-back clean sheets. They scored eight goals throughout their first three games and can take plenty of confidence into this round of 16 contest. They have plenty of capable players, although the standout performer of the group stage was undoubtedly Georginio Wijnaldum.
He admits that his side have been studying the Czechs ahead of this tie and they should be well-prepared for this Sunday evening clash. They’ve had more rest than their opponents and should be able to find gaps in their defence.
The Czech Republic ended the group stage on a sour note as they failed to find a way past England. Patrick Schik has been their main threat so far, and if Frank de Boer’s men can mark him out of this game, their back-line may be able to clock up a third consecutive shutout here.
2-0 Netherlands | 7/1
Belgium v Portugal
This contest is likely to be one of the standout games of Euro 2020 and with neither side convincing defensively, this could be a very open affair. Belgium have typically struggled against this opposition in recent years, however, they look like they’re enjoying their football under Roberto Martinez.
They were below par against Denmark, however, they still found a way to win and they should have enough individual talent to give themselves a fighting chance here.
Portugal had their ups and down during the group stage and Fernando Santos made some brave calls during their final match against France. He left out Bruno Fernandes and it was clearly a gamble which paid off. They look a little light at the back and if Nelson Semedo hasn’t fully recovered, they could be vulnerable at the back.
This could be a very entertaining 90 minutes.
