1.05 – British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes (1m)
Zinc White’s form is the best of those that have run but it’s hardly insurmountable given he was only fifth at Salisbury last month. No shock then if this goes to one of the debutants. Charlie Appleby sends out Mystical Dawn, a €500,000 colt by Sea The Stars in Godolphin blue and he’s got strong credentials but so, too, does Aidan O’Brien’s BOLSHOI BALLET. He’s bred to get a trip and it’s not common-place for the Irish trainer to debut horses in British maidens. He’s the value at the morning prices.

1.40 – 150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes (6f)
Having won a Group 3 on the all-weather at Kempton last time, Mighty Gurkha sets an obvious and clear standard. Archie Watson’s colt has a strong book of form and a clear chance. He’s a little bit more appealing at morning odds than the 7/4 he opened at, but still not enough to back as the ground and his 27 rivals are major concerns. Karl Burke’s GIFT LIST is 2-3 (only beaten a head on debut) and was most impressive in a soft-ground Redcar novice five weeks ago. A drop back to 6f should be fine on this ground in a race where there should be plenty of pace and she’s a player.

2.10 – British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap (1m2f)
Both OTI MA BOATI and Wondrous Words have strong credentials on the testing surface. The latter won well on heavy at Redcar in August and finished a good second since at Ayr for trainer Roger Varian, both times over this trip. William Haggas’ filly meanwhile won at Goodwood (1m, soft) in her latest progressive effort and is 2-2 this season. She’s up 6lb in a better race but appeals as one still improving and could excel again at this new trip.

2.45 – Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes (Fillies’ And Mares’ Group 1, 1m)
Billesdon Brook won this a year ago from VERACIOUS but Sir Michael Stoute’s charge might gain revenge now. The 2019 Falmouth winner is re-united with Oisin Murphy (Ryan Moore required by Ballydoyle) and she looked good at Haydock in a decent Listed contest on her only run this term (first since wind op). Given her trainer’s record with older performers, there may be a big run in her provided the ground isn’t bottomless. Moore rides Peaceful, one of a trio of three-year-olds all with excellent claims, fellow Irish raider Champers Elysees and John Gosden’s Terebellum being the others.

3.20 – British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap (1m4f)
URBAN ARTIST brushed aside Ice Sprite at Goodwood (1m4f, good to soft) in August and can confirm that superiority despite the revised terms. Hughie Morrison’s mare stays beyond two miles, handles soft ground and won’t mind if this get tough. La Luna’s Pontefract second in Listed company on her seasonal bow was a fine effort but she wasn’t as good next time and has yet to race on ground worse than good.

3.55 – Prestige Agri Maiden Stakes (7f)
A trio at the front of the market all with claims in this maiden. Wide Judgement found only one too good on debut at Beverley and should go close for Mark Johnston while Fabrizio is an expensive Frankel newcomer for the in-form Charlie Appleby/William Buick alliance. EXISTENT shaped well on debut here in June and started at 10/1 for the Coventry at Royal Ascot soon after. The Kingman colt wasn’t disgraced and might be good enough to land this after a break now back in maiden company.

4.30 – Racing Welfare Supporting Racing’s Workforce Fillies’ Handicap (7f)
DREAM WORLD produced a career-best to win here on the July Course (7f, soft) six weeks ago. She had a rather luckless run at Thirsk afterwards and her subsequent Newcastle run is best forgotten as she’s a better horse on turf. With conditions to suit and Ray Dawson’s 5lb claim very much a positive, Mick Appleby’s five-year-old is a strong candidate to land the lucky last.
