Chelsea have been extremely busy in the transfer market this summer in an attempt to cut the gap between themselves and last season’s champions Liverpool.
Frank Lampard’s side did enough to qualify for the Champions League but they were never in the hunt for the title, as Liverpool blew Manchester City away to lift the PL title for the first time.
The Blue will be hoping the signings of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva will give them an extra edge and they get their chance to prove their worth on Sunday in the 16:30 kick-off.
Chelsea have lost each of their last three Premier League meetings with Liverpool but they will take confidence from Liverpool’s display against Leeds, with the Reds conceding three goals at Anfield in a thrilling 4-3 victory.
Both teams have scored in 11 of the last 14 meetings between the pair, with the previous clash finishing 5-3 to Liverpool.
Another exciting clash is expected at Stamford Bridge and it could be worth delving into the goals department, with over 3.5 priced at 6/4
Tottenham Need to Respond at St Mary’s
Jose Mourinho’s Spurs lost on the opening weekend to Everton and Tottenham need a big lift when they travel to the south coast for the midday kick-off.
The Saints have won both of their last two home league games against Sours and there are rumours of discontent in the ranks of the north London outfit, with Dele Alli dropped in midweek.
Southampton didn’t get off to a good start either as they were shocked by Crystal Palace, with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men losing 2-0 at Selhurst Park.
With both teams set to be nervous and not hitting their straps straight away, the 47/20
price on offer for the draw makes most appeal.
Newcastle Can End Poor Record Against Seagulls
Steve Bruce’s men opened the new campaign with a 2-0 win against West Ham United, as new signings Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick got on the scoresheet, and the Magpies will be confident ahead of the home clash with Brighton at 14:00.
The north-east outfit are without a win in all six of their previous Premier League meetings with Brighton, but confidence appears to be high and the hosts will be looking to extend their winning run.
Brighton started off with a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea and the slight injuries picked up Adam Lallana and Ben White could have a detrimental effect ahead of the trip to Tyneside.
If the Seagulls are not at full strength, then they should come unstuck and a Newcastle win at 33/20
looks very tempting.
Foxes Can Make it Ten in a Row
The final game of Sunday sees Leicester welcome Burnley to the King Power Stadium for a 19:00 start.
Brendan Rodgers’ side made a blistering start to the season by beating West Brom 3-0, while Burnley are yet to get their domestic campaign underway.
The Foxes are unbeaten in nine home league games against Burnley, while they have only lost their first home game of a new season just once from the last 13 attempts.
Leicester should have finished in the top four last season apart from a late slump and they are 5/8
to pick up all three points this weekend.
