THE only online bookie that lists SPFL and first-scorer prices for every game are McBookie.
McBookie’s Damian Walker is back with his first-scorer tips and he’s also challenging punters to pick their own.
Every week one person with a correct prediction will be chosen at random to win a £10 bet – and if you backed your tip with McBookie with at least a fiver they’ll double the prize to £20.
You can comment with your pick here and give any reasoning but to enter the contest you have to email mrfixit@dailyrecord.co.uk.
Quote player’s club and first-scorer price with McBookie – Scottish games only – for a chance to win. Last week’s winner was Ian Conway and he has been notified.
Here is Damian with this weekend’s selections. He says: “Having landed a 14-1 winner the previous weekend, I almost repeated the trick when 14-1 first scorer Michael Miller scored Raith’s opener but sadly not the first in the game.
“There are slim pickings to go at this weekend with it being an international break, although McBookie are offering goalscorer markets for a lot of the Tunnock’s Challenge Cup ties.
“Looking at the game I thought Clyde were too big a price at 9-2 to win at Arbroath. The Red Lichties have lost their last three games in the Championship, conceding six goals with just one for.
“Clyde have shown in this competition they will play their strongest starting XI and in the last round took care of another Championship side, beating Queen of the South 3-2 despite trailing 2-0.
“I would have Clyde as shorter in the betting and they are worth a first-scorer bet. According to match reports Clyde missed suspended striker David Goodwillie in their 2-0 home loss to Montrose last weekend – their first home defeat in almost a year.
“With a strong starting XI and Goodwillie back in the line-up he is a fair bet to score the opener at 11-2 with McBookie.
“Elgin have caused me some pain this season in League Two and thrown in some poor performances when I have been with them.
“But I’d expect them to field another strong starting XI away to League One outfit Airdrie – largely because the Black and Whites have such a small squad.
“Shane Sutherland continues to bang in the goals for them and is 13-2 to grab the opener with McBookie.
“Finally I thought I’d take a chance on Alloa at 17-4 to win away at Inverness in this all-Championship affair.
“The Wasps caused a bit of an upset last weekend when beating red-hot title favourites Dundee United.
“They look too big at their current odds especially as their opponents suffered a surprise home defeat to Partick Thistle two weeks ago.
“Alloa’s Alan Trouten has five goals from 12 appearances this season and is 13-2 to be the game’s first scorer.”
