The SPFL Premiership goes in to hibernation for a couple of weeks but before it signs-off for the winter break we’ve a full round of fixtures this afternoon.
Celtic ensured they’d be top when the teams return at the end of the month by winning their second Glasgow Derby of the season but that’ll be relatively menaingless if they don’t follow it up with a win at St Mirren in today’s live match on Sky Sports.
We’ve focused on the Hoops’ corner count in recent weeks and it could be worth getting on board again. Prior to hitting a paltry four against Rangers, Brendan Rodgers’ men had hit 11, 12, 13, 11, 13, 12, 11, 9, 18 &14 in their last 10 domestic games – an average of 12.3 per game.
Bet365 go 11/10 on Celtic to take nine or more in Paisley today and with the lions’ share of possession that shouldn’t be far away.
Rangers will need to pick themselves up following their Derby Day defeat and in opponents Kilmarnock they welcome one of the form teams in the league.
Derek McInnes’ men are unbeaten in six and thought they’d nicked all three points on Saturday having taken the lead on the 93rd minuted only to concede to Dundee two minutes later.
Killie beat Rangers back in August at Rugby Park but you need to go back to 2018 for their last win at Ibrox when a certain Kris Boyd scored the only goal of the game for the men from Ayrshire. They’re 17/2 to win agains tonight but given how poor they’ve generally been away from home that feels a little short.
Despite current form Killie have only scored seven in 10 away games whilst Rangers boast the best home defensive record, conceding just six in nine and keeping five clean sheets. A Gers win to nil is 10/11.
Hearts followed up their own Derby win with a disappointing draw against Ross County but can and should be backed at 19/20 to win at Livingston who suffered yet another defeat at the weekend.
Livi are now six points adrift at the bottom and are now 12 without a win (D2 L10) and simply have to be opposed.
Jambos captain, Lawrence Shankland, has been in incredible form. His goal on Saturday made it 17 for the season and he’s 6/5 to score against the second worst defence in the division today.
Also in Scotland there should be goals at Hibs v Motherwell and in the Glasgow Derby between Partick thistle and Queen’s Park. The Over 2.5 Goals Double pays 2/1.
In the Premier League there’s only two points between West Ham and Brighton who meet at the London Stadium tonight.
The Hammers are in top form at the moment and but for a 5-0 aberration at Fulham they’ve been one of the form teams in December.
Brighton’s form has been mixed, a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace was followed by a terrific 4-2 victory over Spurs.
West Ham won when the sides met at the Amex in August and home advantage makes them the most favourable option tonight at 7/5.
