The DP World Tour continues this week with the South African Open at Blair Atholl Golf Estate, Lanseria, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Again just as last week theirs two DPWT events running simultaneously with the other being the Australian Open in Sydney.
The PGA Tour also makes a return as does Tiger Woods & Will Zalatoris at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.
After landing another outright winner at the weekend in the shape of Min Woo Lee to win the Australian PGA Championship & Ludvig Aberg the week before to win the RSM Classic, The Caddy’s going for the hat-trick once again.

It’s been an amazing few months for members with almost £3K profit since launch at the end of April.
The 156 field with the Top 65 including ties making the weekend will all be competing for a share of the $1.5M prize purse with the winner collecting the South African Open title & a winning cheque for $250,000.
Blair Atholl Golf Estate will be playing 8,161 yards long this week, it’s a Par 72 Parkland layout that will definitely suit the big hitters in the pack.
Thriston Lawrence returns to defend his title, his winning scorecard from last year read 272, -16.
The weather is forecast sunny, warm & pleasant throughout with breezes peaking at around 12mph.
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf in the UK with live coverage starting at 10 am on Thursday morning.
So let’s move on with this week’s selections for the South African Open as The Caddy looks for yet another hat-trick.
Matti Schmid 20/1 EW Boylesports 1-8 places
For my first selection In Johannesburg, I like the look of Matti Schmid 20/1 EW Boylesports 1-8 places.
The 26-year-old German kid finished 3rd at the Bermuda Championship on the PGA Tour & runner up at the Andalucia Masters on the DP World Tour. Now what makes that even more impressive is that this has all happened within his last four tournaments. He’s ranked 10th on the PGA Tour & 9th on the DPWT for Driving Distance & with this being a big hitters paradise then
Matti Schmid has an advantage before a ball is struck. His approach to play is reliable & on the greens, he’s ranked 4th on the DPWT for Average Putts Per Round.
Again it’s another chance for a maiden DPWT winner this Sunday afternoon & it would come as no surprise from this direction if it’s Matti Schmid celebrating his first W at the South African Open this weekend.
Hennie du Plessis 22/1 EW Bet365 1-8 places
For my next pick, I’m going to single out Hennie du Plessis 25/1 EW 888 Sport 1-6 places. The 27-year-old South African will be playing on home soil again this weekend & he could go close in his homeland.
He finished T21st last weekend at the Joburg Open & T6th previous to that at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, both in South Africa. Hennie du Plessis can hit the ball further Off The Tee than almost everyone in this field.
He’s ranked 3rd on the DPWT for Driving Distance & 4th for Greens in Regulation so these figures should see him go well around this longer layout.
With this being the time of the season for maiden winners, it’s yet another chance for a player to get that first professional W on the board, it’s actually hard to believe he’s not won on the DPWT having hit the bar more than once.
Hennie du Plessis could bend it in the top corner this weekend & achieve his main goal by becoming a champion on the DP World Tour.
Wilco Nienaber 45/1 EW 888 Sport 1-6 places
For my final tip this week, it’s another big hitter, in fact the biggest of them all Wilco Nienaber 45/1 EW 888 Sport 1-6 places.
The 23-year-old South African kid can hit the ball over 400 yards on some holes, imagine being able to do that at the local golf course.
His average distance is around 332 yards so of course he’s ranked No. 1 on the DPWT for Driving Distance, it’s just all the other figures that let him down. If you’re willing to forget about Nienaber’s last two missed cuts then it’s only three events back that he had a Top 20 finish when finishing 17th at the Andalucia Masters.
He is another who’s winless on the DPWT but time is definitely on his side & it could all happen sooner rather than later, possibly this weekend for Wilco Nienaber when he’s crowned as the South African Open Champion.
