Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Portuguese top flight, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Two of the most entertaining sides in the Portuguese Primeira Liga go head-to-head at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos tomorrow evening as 4th-placed Braga travel to 9th-placed Gil Vicente in a fixture that screams to me for goals.
Vítor Campelos’ hosts are the joint second-highest scorers in the Primeira Liga, banging in 18 goals across their opening eight matches, with a league-best 14 (78%) of them coming on home soil. The Gilistas have made the net bulge in 7/8 (88%) of their league tussles – scoring on multiple occasions in five (63%) of them, including in all four on home turf – and they will be confident of continuing their extraordinary goal-scoring record at home against a Braga defence still yet to register a clean sheet in the league this season, conceding 14 goals.
Artur Jorge’s visitors are the leading scorers in the Portuguese top-flight, scoring 20 goals across their opening eight matches, with a league-best 12 (60%) of them coming on their travels. Os Arcebispos have made the net bulge in all eight of their league contests – scoring two or more in five of their last seven – and they will be confident of getting on the scoresheet once more against a Gil Vicente defence that has recorded a solitary clean sheet across their previous seven Primeira Liga contests, conceding 15 goals.

Braga’s opening eight Primeira Liga fixtures this season are averaging a league-high 4.25 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals clicking in 7/8 (88%) of them – and given the same has landed in five of Gil Vicente’s previous seven league outings – I’m more than happy to have a punt on there to be at least three strikes in Barcelos between these two sides tomorrow evening, with both teams contributing.
