After two defeats to France, the Netherlands have left themselves with a bit do in Group B. They’ve a game in hand on tonight’s opponents Greece but trail them by three points, so avoiding defeat in Athens this evening is imperative.
Greece kept themselves in the hunt for a place at the Euros with a good 2-0 win in Dublin on Friday and will be no pushovers on their own soil. Spain are the only team to have beaten them at home in 17 matches.
The Dutch cruised to a 3-0 win when the sides met in September – that was the first time Greece had conceded more than two since June 2019 and they’re usually well organised defensively. They lost by a single Kylian Mbappe penalty in the Stade de France in June and will no doubt set out to frustrate Ronald Koeman’s men tonight.
It’s 16/5 for the Greeks to pull off a win and they’re 4/5 not to lose.
It’ll suit Greece to keep things tight and to try to stifle the Dutch and the draw at half-time could be a good option at 11/10 as could No Goal before 31:00 minutes.
We talked up Luxembourg’s chances in Iceland on Friday but they could only manage a draw. Tonight they’ve got the chance to move in to second place in their Group and leapfrog opponents Slovakia.
They’ve rarely been this close to qualifying for a major tournament and tonight’s is arguably one of the most important in their national team’s history. They’ve already won more points in this campaign than any in the past despite the fact they’ve shipped 15 goals in two games against Portugal.
They earned a hard-fought point against Slovakia in Trnava in March and are 5/2 to go one better tonight with a win.
Slovakia are on 13 points but eked out a 1-0 win in Liechtenstein and a 2-1 win in Iceland. Last year’s Nations League campaign saw them lose to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Belarus.
5/2 on the Luxembourgers looks worth a punt.
Belgium are one of six nations already qualified but they’ll want to finish well at the top of Group F for the chance to claim one of the top seedings in the draw.
They host a Sweden side who have had a really poor campaign, their only points coming in wins over Azerbaijan and Estonia.
Belgium won 3-0 when the sides met in Solna with Romelu Lukaku grabbing a hat-trick. The AS Roma striker might find his game-time limited tonight but there’s plenty of quality still in that Belgian squad.
A win at 3/5 is one for the accas or add 2+ goals for the host for a 5/6 chance.
Elsewhere the Irish will be looking for a morale-boosting win over Gibraltar. Best bet could be the impressive Evan Ferguson to get on the scoresheet at 4/7 or to score a brace at 9/4.
Portugal are home and hosed in Group J so could take their foot off the gas away to Bosnia and Herzegovina so keep an eye on team news before getting involved at 1/2.
If they’re still looking strong then double them up with Belgium for a 7/5 Double.
