Looking to make it an incredible eight winners in a row, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Scottish Championship, and one team in particular appeals to me for goals.

Airdrieonians will look to heap more misery on Inverness as they welcome them to Excelsior Stadium in a fixture that I like the look of goals in, particularly from the hosts.
Airdrieonians had an outstanding group-stage in the League Cup as they won all four of their matches to finish top of their group above both Premiership side Dundee and upcoming opponents Inverness. However, Rhys McCabe saw his side’s League Cup campaign end at the weekend as despite coming from 1-3 down to level the tie, eventually went on to lose 3-4 in extra time against Premiership side Ross County. The Diamonds began their Championship campaign with a 2-1 defeat at fellow newly-promoted side Dunfermline, but came from a goal down to beat Partick Thistle by the same scoreline to record their first three points back in the second tier in Scotland.
Inverness began their League Cup campaign with a 2-1 victory over lower league Bonnyrigg Rose, but that’s as good as it got for Billy Dodds’ men, as a 2-3 defeat at home to Airdrieonians was sandwiched between losses away at Dundee and at League Two side Dumbarton. Things haven’t gotten any better in the league for Caley Thistle, as they followed up their 1-2 opening-day loss at home to Queen’s Park by losing 1-0 away at injury-ravaged Ayr.
Bet of the Day
Rhys McCabe’s entertaining side banged in an incredible 50 goals across their 18 League One fixtures in front of their supporters last season – and given they have already scored eight across their opening four home league and cup matches this term – I’m happy to back them to score another double against a struggling Inverness side still without a clean sheet this season.
