Following Tuesday night’s winner in Iceland, Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on Rangers’ Champions League qualifier at Ibrox – and I’m expecting goals, particularly from the home side.

Rangers welcome Servette to Ibrox in the first leg of their third-round Champions League qualifier this evening, and I’m expecting to see goals.
Rangers began their season by suffering a 1-0 defeat away at Kilmarnock in what was not only a terrible performance but what downed Saturday’s BOTD. It’s well documented that Rangers had a horrendous Champions League campaign last season, but The Gers did reach the group stage by knocking out Belgian side Union-Saint Gilloise and PSV – the side they are very likely to play should they get past their Swiss opponents.
Servette just about continued their unbeaten start to their campaign on Saturday, as they scored deep into stoppage-time to draw 1-1 away at newly-promoted Stade Lausanne-Ouchy – leaving them 5th after their opening three rounds of fixtures in the Swiss Super League. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, René Weiler’s men drew 2-2 away in Belgium against Genk in the previous round – despite playing with 10 men after just five minutes of the match – before prevailing on penalties.
Bet of the Day
Rangers have struck on multiple occasions in eight of their previous 11 European fixtures at Ibrox – including in both Champions League qualifiers last season – and given their need for not only a first-leg advantage to take to Switzerland next week but also a response to their poor performance on Saturday, I’m backing Michael Beale’s hosts to score at least twice against a Servette defence yet to register a clean sheet across their opening five matches.
All five of Rangers Champions League group-stage and qualifying matches at Ibrox last season featured at least three strikes – and given the Scottish giants still don’t convince defensively – I’m happy to throw in an extra match goal.
