HAPPY new season and HEARTS can get their campaign off to a flyer with a win in Perth against St Johnstone at 5/4.
The Jambos have had a bit of a strange summer – they have this confusing managerial structure with Frankie McAvoy and Steven Naismith in the hotseat, but no one is quite sure who’s actually pulling the strings.
And they’ve been late to do their transfer business with only really Frankie Kent and Calem Nieuwenhof coming in off note, although more are reported to be on their way.
But they’ve kept the bulk of the squad and have Liam Boyce back to team up with Lawrence Shankland up front.
However, backing them on Saturday is more down to their opponents. They are facing a Saints side who appear to be in disarray.
New manager Steven MacLean was named favourite in McBookie‘s sack race this week and no wonder after last week’s humiliating 4-0 home trouncing from Stirling Albion.
They are struggling with injuries and are having to rely on too many youngsters who don’t look up to the job.
It’s hard to see that 5/4 lasting until kick off though.
QUEEN OF THE SOUTH showed signs of improvement last season when Marvin Bartley took over and they can get their League One campaign off to a decent start at 5/6 with a win against Alloa.
The Dumfries side looked impressive in the Viaplay Cup and held Premiership Motherwell to a draw as well as beating big-spending Queen’s Park at Lesser Hampden.
Gavin Reilly looks like a reborn striker and they will be targeting the three points against an Alloa side who already look like they have problems.
They were hammered by a struggling St Johnstone side before crashing to a 6-0 annihilation at Ayr United, although they were already out by this stage.
They’ve lost striker Ross McIver to Falkirk who has already hit three goals for his new club.
And the Doonhamers look a solid shout
STIRLING ALBION can celebrate their flag day in League One at 10/11 against Edinburgh City.
Darren Young’s Binos were superb in the Viaplay Cup and topped their group with three wins and a draw including that humbling of St Johnstone in Perth.
It carried on from their form at the end of last season where they romped to League Two success.
Edinburgh City look like they could seriously struggle with that squad and Albion can carry on their good start with a win.
