Team Vitality looked phenomenal in the early stages of the IEM Cologne 2023 group stage, effortlessly disposing of both OG (16-6, 16-13) and MOUZ (16-4, 16-5) in clean sweeps. However, their run of dominance came to a stop in the upper-bracket final, where the Bees suffered a 1-2 defeat to G2 Esports.
Cloud9 had a much shakier road to the IEM Cologne 2023 playoffs. The Russian squad lost their first match of the tournament against Fnatic (1-2), nearly suffered an early elimination at the hands of 9INE (2-1) in the lower bracket and had to dig deep in the lower-bracket finals to make it past GamerLegion (2-1).
Seeing Cloud9 struggle a bit isn’t surprising, considering IEM Cologne 2023 is this roster’s first tournament together. Moreover, C9 had to play without Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov, who had his visa delayed for the duration of the group stage. Now, the 21-year-old is ready to join his squad, significantly boosting Cloud9’s firepower.
Team Vitality have looked very good since the summer break and are rightly priced as favourites for this match, yet the offered CS:GO betting odds don’t add up. Cloud9 have struggled, but this is an incredibly stacked roster which shouldn’t be priced as a $3.00 underdog against any team at IEM Cologne 2023.
Cloud9 to win
HEROIC vs ASTRALIS CS:GO BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |

Heroic entered IEM Cologne 2023 as one of the favourites to go all the way following their dominant display at BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2023. But the Danes ran into issues facing ENCE in Group A upper-bracket finals and lost 1-2. One bad result doesn’t mean much; however, Heroic have shown cracks in Cologne, so we might need to tame our expectations.
Astralis made significant roster changes last month, promoting Benjamin “blameF” Bremer to in-game leader and signing Victor “Staehr” Staehr from Sprout. Initially, there were some concerns about how the new-look squad will do, but Astralis have yet to disappoint.
At IEM Cologne 2023, Astralis lost their opening match against G2 Esports (1-2) but quickly bounced back with a perfect run through the lower bracket with wins against Ninjas in Pyjamas (2-0), MOUZ (2-0), and Natus Vincere (2-1). Much of Astralis’ success is thanks to Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, who has proved he is still at the top of his game (1.29 rating), but the main reason Astralis have made it so far is Christian Møss “Buzz” Andersen and his heroic performance against NaVi (2.02).
Both teams are in excellent shape, promising an exciting Danish Derby, and even though Astralis have a lot more to prove, they’re an excellent bet at this price.
Astralis to win
