Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Conference League qualifiers, and there is one side in particular who I’m keen to get onside for goals.

Basel will look to keep their hopes of European group-stage football alive this season as they travel to the Kazakh city of Kostanay to take on FC Tobol, looking to overturn a two-goal deficit.
Things looked to be going as expected for Basel last week as they took the lead midway in the first half to go into the interval one goal ahead. However, a crazy second half endured at St. Jakob-Park as in the space of 15 minutes, Timo Schultz’s hosts lost two men and three goals to give the side that finished 3rd last season in the Kazakhstan Premier League a shock first leg 1-3 victory.
Prior to that first-leg defeat, Basel began their Swiss Super League campaign with a 2-1 loss at St. Gallen, and despite going a goal down at the weekend, the RotBlau managed to claim their first victory of the season with a much-needed 5-2 success at home to FC Winterthur.
Milic Ćurčić’s hosts head into the clash having won five of their previous six Kazakhstan Premier League fixtures, however, they are positioned in 6th place in the table, some 16 points behind table-toppers Ordabasy – albeit having two games in hand.
Bet of the Day
Given the scoreline after the first leg, there are a few different ways to approach this, but I’ve ultimately decided to back Basel team goals.
In last season’s Conference League, Basel found the back of the net in 16/20 (80%) of their European ties, scoring on multiple occasions in 13 (65%) of them – including in five of their last six on their travels against teams such as Fiorentina and Nice – and I’m backing them to make the net bulge at least in Kostanay on Thursday afternoon.
