Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me once more stay in the MLS, and yet again, I fancy both goals and cards.

Two clubs outside the Eastern Conference playoff positions and separated only on goal difference meet at CitiField in the early hours of Thursday morning as New York City plays host to Charlotte in a fixture that appeals to me for goals and cards.
Nick Cushing’s hosts have scored 22 goals across their opening 21 MLS fixtures this term, with 13 (59%) of those coming at home. The Pigeons have found the back of the net in 8/9 (89%) of their league outings in front of their supporters – scoring two or more in three (39%) of them – and will look to breach a Charlotte defence that has registered just three clean sheets in MLS all season, with just one of those coming on their travels.
Christian Lattanzio’s visitors have scored 27 goals across their opening 20 MLS fixtures this campaign, with 14 (52%) of them coming on their travels. The Crown have found the back of the net in 8/10 (80%) of their MLS fixtures on the road this term – scoring two or more in five (50%) of them – and will aim to breach an NYCFC defence that’s registered just four clean sheets in the league this season, with just one of those coming in their last eight at home.

Both Teams to Score has banked in 13/20 (65%) of Charlotte’s MLS fixtures this season, including in 7/10 (70%) away from home – and given both have obliged in seven of NYCFC’s previous eight at home – I’m happy to have a punt on these two sides finding the target in this one.
To nudge up the price, I’m willing to throw in both sides to collect a card. Both New York City and Charlotte have been carded in every one of their MLS fixtures to date, with both teams earning a card in 36/41 (88%) of the pair’s combined matches in MLS this season.
