The DP World Tour visits Germany this week with the Porsche European Open at Green Eagle Golf Courses ( North Course) Hamburg.
The 156 field with the top 65 including ties making the cut will all be competing for a share of the €2M prize purse with the winner collecting the European Open title and a Winner cheque for €333,400.
The North Course at Green Eagle will be playing 7,457 yards long this week, it’s a Parkland layout where the key to success will definitely involve power & precision around this Par 73 marathon.
Kalle Samooja returns to defend the title he won here last year. His winning scorecard read 282, -8.
The weather is forecast to be sunny and warm throughout with some cloudy intervals. Breezes will peak at around 15mph.
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf with live coverage starting from midday on Thursday.
Yannik Paul 28/1 EW PaddyPower 1-7 places
For my first outright selection in Hamburg, I’m going to single out Yannik Paul 28/1 EW PaddyPower 1-7 places.
The 29-year-old from Frankfurt has home advantage this week and could put on a show in his homeland. It’s Yannik’s first time out since finishing in the top half at the US PGA Championship just a fortnight ago. He recovered from an opening round 76 to card 69 on the Friday to make the cut, not bad considering it was only his second appearance at a major. Winner at the Majorca Golf Open last year but really it could have been much more as he seems to be challenging and in the mix on almost every leaderboard these days.
Two recent runner-up spots at the Hero Indian Open & Thailand Classic are prime examples with 6th place at the ISPS Handa Championship also worth a mention. Yannik Paul finished inside the Top 20 as a debutant at this event last year and I’d say he’s in a much better place now than then so I’m tipping the German to entertain the home crowd with another well-deserved DPWT crown in Hamburg this weekend.
Ewen Ferguson 50/1 EW Ladbrokes 1-7 places
For my next best selection I’m going to point you all in the direction of Ewen Ferguson who is now available at 50/1 EW Ladbrokes 1-7 places. This venue will suit the young 26yrs old Scots game, it’s long with water hazards on all but one hole so Greens in Regulation figures will be especially pivotal around Green Eagle.
The Glaswegians figures in this department are always reliable and consistent but what’s more impressive is Ferguson’s three Top 10 finishes at the last five attempts. T8th last week at the KLM Open, T4th Jonnson Workwear Open, T3rd SDC Championship and Twice a winner on the DPWT in 2022 when making his breakthrough.
I expect this kid to go well again this week and 50/1 looks very good in my book.
Have the firms overlooked the young Scots’ chances? I’d say they definitely have so my advice is to jump on the 50/1 while it’s available safe in the knowledge that a place will still return a tidy profit.
Niklas Norgaard Moller 40/1EW Unibet 1-6 places
For my final outright betting tip to win the European Open I’m going to advise Niklas Norgaard Moller 40/1EW Unibet 1-6 places. This price has been slashed since yesterday with some firms now only offering 33/1 or less.
I did mention this on my Telegram channel yesterday so members have benefited from the 24hrs priority access. It was an extremely profitable first full month for members on my channel with three outright winners inc SuperBanker Matchbet Naps & much much more.

The 31-year-old Dane from Copenhagen ranks 4th on the DPWT for Longest Drives and with this being a Par 73 marathon then this stat comes into play before a ball is hit. His Stroke Average & Greens in Regulation figures aren’t too shabby either so if putting all together this week then that maiden DPWT title may only be a matter of days away.
Niklas finished inside the Top 10 at this event last year and he can use that long ball game to his advantage again this year. He has been making cuts having only missed two in 2023 so can be relied upon to make the weekend. Niklas Hojgaard Moller is one of the longest ball strikers in this lineup and the man from Denmark can achieve his main goal when he shoots his way to victory and bags his maiden DP World Tour title this Sunday afternoon.
