For my first and main selection to win this week’s KLM Open, I will point you all in the direction of Adrian Meronk 12/1 Boylesports 1-8 places.
The 31-year-old from Poland bagged a 20/1 winner for us just a few weeks back when scooping the Italian Open at the Marco Simone in Rome and it could be more of the same this weekend in Holland. He’s definitely the ace in the pack and has now bagged the Irish, Australian & Italian Opens in the past twelve months.
I’m just hoping he arrives here fresh from an appearance at Oak Hill last week where he finished inside the Top 40 at the US PGA Championship. Meronk carded a final round 68 at Oak Hill and if he produces anything like that here then I’m telling you now, he will be unplayable. The very fact that Meronk competes at these big events amongst the world’s golfing elite is a clue in itself when comparing this field. Adrian Meronk finished 3rd at this event last year and with a Ryder Cup place beckoning, I expect more fireworks this week as he shoots his way to victory to the delight of us all as we dance around the Pole again this weekend.
Victor Perez 14/1 EW Betfred 1-5 places
For my next best selection I’m going to advise Victor Perez 14/1 EW Betfred 1-5 places.
The 30-year-old Frenchman returns to Cromvoirt to defend his title on the back of a remarkable 12th-place finish at the PGA Championship on Sunday. If Perez arrives with that kinda form in the bag then he will be well on his way to successfully defending his crown. I’ve gone for the two big guns in this weaker lineup as I just can’t see anyone shooting them down and I think prices of 12/1 & 14/1 are still fair game.
Prior to Oak Hill Perez finished 9th at the Italian Open in Rome but it gets even better for the Frenchman who has already won an event this year when scooping the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship just a couple of months back.
Victor Perez simply thrives on links tracks having already won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and with this layout having a Links feel to it I expect Perez to give it a good shot and he won’t be far away from repeating last year’s tremendous effort. Perez is currently ranked 59th in the world looking down on most of this field and he could let that class show again this time around as he defends his title in style.
Jorge Campillo 33/1 EW PaddyPower 1-7 places
For my final outright pick to win at Cromvoirt, I’m going to single out Jorge Campillo 33/1 EW PaddyPower 1-7 places.
The 36-year-old from Caceres in Spain missed the cut last time out at the Soudal Open but I’m willing to forget that just as he will.
I’m going to concentrate and focus on the five Top 10 performances in as many attempts before the Soudal Open. Three of those Top 10 finishes were inside the Top 5 with one being a W with victory at the Magical Kenya Open. It’s fair to say that Campillo has been on fire recently and he does have form on these layouts.
The Spaniard has had plenty of time to recharge his batteries and I expect him to come back after a short layoff all guns blazing. I’d say if not winning and being able to topple the two mentioned above then a place seems very realistic for all you Each Way backers and 33/1 looks very tempting from this direction. You can look for more places if need be with Boylesports for example who are offering 30/1 for 1-8 places.
