Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund
It’s a high stakes Der Klassiker on Saturday evening as Bayern attempt to regain top spot in Thomas Tuchel’s first game in charge, which just happens to be against his former club.
Julian Nagelsmann was surprisingly binned by Bayern during the international break and it looked a harsh decision.
Although the Bavarian giants haven’t been their usual dominant selves in the Bundesliga, they were top until defeat at Leverkusen last time out and won six out of six in the Champions League group stage before dispatching PSG home and away.
So there’s plenty for Tuchel to work with and this showdown will go a long way to proving whether Dortmund are the real deal in this season’s title race.
While they thumped Cologne 6-1 at home before the international break, Dortmund’s previous two away outings were a 2-0 defeat at Chelsea that knocked them out of the Champions League and a 2-2 Bundesliga draw at lowly Schalke.
The Dortmund defence never fully convinces and they’ve lost their last seven trips to the Allianza Arena. All those games featured at least three goals and another Bayern win and over 2.5 appeals at 4-5 with Paddy Power.
Juventus v Verona
If it wasn’t for their 15-point direction, Juventus would be sitting second in Serie A but a Champions League spot isn’t out of the question thanks to their sparkling form.
Max Allegri’s men have won six of their last seven league outings and are within seven points of the top four while sides above them falter.
Juve netted four in each of their previous two home games and they can see off a Versona side who languish in the bottom three having not won in five matches. Back the hosts and over 1.5 goals at 5-6 with Ladbrokes.
Sporting v Santa Clara
Having knocked Arsenal out of the Europa League in their last game, Sporting return to action against the side propping up the Portuguese league.
Poor old Santa Clara have gone 12 league matches without a win, taking just two points in that rotten run and losing the last six games in a row.
Sporting may be down in fourth but they remain pretty formidable at home and should cover the -1 handicap at 1-2 with Coral.
Euro Treble
- Bayern Munich & over 2.5 goals (5.30pm)
- Juventus & over 1.5 goals (7.45pm)
- Sporting -1 (8.30pm)
- (38-10, Ladbrokes)
