The last-16 of the FA Cup takes centre-stage this midweek to ease fixture congestion with four ties tonight and another four tomorrow.
Matches will be played to a finish in this round and the remaining rounds of the competition, so no big money-spinning for the remaining underdogs. League One Fleetwood Town and League Two Grimsby Town are the lowest ranked teams remaining in the tournament and they’ll be in action on Wednesday evening.
Tonight we have an all-Premier League clash at Craven Cottage where Fulham welcome Leeds United.
Javi Gracia won his first game in charge of Leeds at Southampton and he’s aiming to guide them to their first FA Cup quarter-final in 20 years. The Spaniard was in charge of Watford when they reached the final in 2019 so knows a thing or two about taking a team to Wembley.
Fulham continue to impress under Marco Silva and deservedly sit sixth in the table. They’re boosted by the return of top scorer Aleksander Mitrovic and coupled with home advantage could swing it in the Cottager’s favour at 6/5 against a Leeds side who have won just once on the road in the Premier League this season.
Bristol City are the biggest priced outsiders at this stage of the competition, understandably so with favourites Manchester City their visitors.
The Robins come in to the game in good shape however and are unbeaten in 12 but City represent a huge step up in class.
With a crucial game against Newcastle coming up at the weekend Pep Guardiola will probably utilise his squad tonight so keep an eye out for team news and potential value in the goal scorer markets.
It’s been a pretty disappointing season for Leicester City so far but a last-8 place and the prospect of further progression in the FA Cup would add a bit of gloss to a forgettable campaign.
Blackburn are the visitors to the King Power Stadium and three wins in a row has lifted them to fourth in the Championship and in a strong position to make the play-offs. They’ve already knock Premier League opposition out of the EFL Cup when they beat West Ham on penalties in London before they were well beaten at home to Nottingham Forest.
If an upset is going to happen this evening it could be here. Rovers are 4/1 to qualify or you can have 7/4 on them to at least force extra-time.
