SlipsTips shares a selection form Ligue 1 on Sunday, with Toulouse and Rennes’ midday meeting under the microscope.
Toulouse vs Rennes (Sunday, 12:00)
Both Toulouse and Rennes will be aiming to return to winning ways in Ligue 1 when the pair meet on Sunday afternoon at Stadium TFC.
Despite a spirited display, Philippe Montanier’s men fell to a 2-1 defeat at French superpower PSG last weekend, a loss which leaves the hosts sitting in a comfortable mid-table position.
As for fifth-placed Rennes, they have been plagued by inconsistency of late, with each of their last eight games ending with either a win or a defeat (W4,L4 ) – the most recent of which was a 3-1 reverse when hosting Lille
This therefore feels like a tricky fixture to tackle from a 1×2 perspective so I’m going to steer clear of the outright betting and instead side with Over 2.5 Goals at 4/5 (Bet 365).
Following their promotion back to Ligue 1 this season, Toulouse have had plenty of success in terms of their attacking output, scoring at least once in 18 of their 22 outings to date, including nine of their 11 home matches.
Opposing outfit Rennes have also been entertaining French top-flight crowds all season, having only failed to score once thus far, not to mention they have netted multiple goals in 50% (11) of their opening 22 contests of the campaign.
However, at the other end of the park, both Les Violets and the Red and Blacks have demonstrated a fairly regular inability to keep the back door locked.
Philippe Montanier’s hosts have conceded at least once in 18 of their 22 assignments so far, while the visitors have just five clean sheets to their name – none of which have been registered away from their Roazhon Park base.
What’s more, Over 2.5 Goals has clicked in a whopping 31 of the pair’s collective 41 (70.4%) Ligue 1 outings this season, yet the odds imply a 55.61 % chance of the same wager landing this weekend.
It’s also worth pointing out that Over 2.5 goal backers would have pocketed profit from November’s reverse fixture between the two sides, all of which adds to the appeal supporting another high-scoring affair in the south west of France on Sunday.
