Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me stay in Holland, and there’s one fixture in the Dutch second-tier that appeals to me for goals.

Two clubs separated by just one point and place in the Eerste Divisie table meet at the Stadion De Viiverberg as 12th-placed Jong Ajax travel to 13th-placed De Graafschap.
De Graafschap put a halt to their two-match losing run in the league last time out, as they scored in the 90th minute to rescue a point away at third-placed MVV. Adrie Poldervaart’s men have failed to score just once in the league this season, scoring 28 goals across their opening 19 fixtures. The Superboeren have registered five clean sheets in the Eerste Divisie this season, but four of those have come against the lowest four scoring sides in the division.
Jong Ajax drew their fourth match from their last five fixtures last time out, as they scored a late equaliser to draw 1-1 at home to fourth-placed Eindhoven. John Heitinga’s side have failed to score in just one of their previous 15 league outings and are the divisions third highest scorers, scoring 34 goals across their opening 19 league fixtures. The Amsterdam club have registered a solitary clean sheet all season and possesses the league’s third-worst defence, conceding 33 times.
Bet of the Day
De Graafschap head into this fixture having failed to score once in the league this season, whilst John Heitinga’s visitors have found the back of the net in 14 of their previous 15 league encounters. Given neither side is particularly tight at the back, there’s a good chance we’ll see both of these teams get on the scoresheet once more.
Over 2.5 goals has landed nine of De Graafschap’s previous 13 league outings, and given the same has landed in five of Jong Ajax’s last seven, I reckon there is a good chance we’ll see at least three strikes here, with both teams contributing.
